  1. Minisystem/bookshelf systems are different than decks, which are ment to compliment full sized audio systems. (I.e the je5XX series of decks.)

What some really want to do is record at the highest possible benchmark, which is usually obtained with decks. Also, you could record some really sweet PCM from a really good CD deck (theoretically). Plus there is things like timeshift, pitch shift for more profesional uses that are usually included in decks Vs. bookshelf/mini systems.

  2. My Favs:

Interstella 5555 by Daft Punk (the animated house musical)

Super Furry Animals - Rings Around the World (The 5.1 audio/visual trip)

Coheed and Cambria - Live at the Starland Ballroom

Story of the Year - Live at the Lou

The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots 5.1

    Talk about yours!

    (No thread crapping)

  3. Probably the cheapest CD player worth even looking twice at is the D-ej001. At 39 CAD, I could not pass up the offer, since I have been looking for a PCDP for a little while now.

The first pic, which may not look it from pictures but this is the most fragile PCDP I have ever used.

The second of the player open. Everything is plasticky grossness.

The last and final picture. It plays CDRW!!!! Wowza

I have yet to actually give this badboy a listen, since I don't have any batteries yet, but will fill you guys in ASAP.

  4. Do you think Sony is already going to ditch HiMD?

If so, then no, we won't see a HiMD deck. Looks like if they keep it together for a little while longer, we can hope to see one soon, since the 2nd gen of HiMD just came out.

EDIT: Also, R&D cuts don't mean HiMD is out the door, it's already been researched and developed. No need for much more R&D.

  5. I heard 1000 for CD-RW, 1 Million for MD.

TDK, and Sony make the best discs in my opinion.

Although the best quality build-wise, as well as (some say) soundwise come from TDK and Sony's "Pro" or "ES" series. Although it seems one can have a wonderful run with a Maxell disc, and a terrible run with a Sony Bianca. Your milage may vary.

  6. "Hero" (I'm addicted to Martial Arts movies right now) as well, I am watching "Dogville" right now. It looks promising, and obscure.

I also watched a DVD from a Emo/Hardcore band called "Story of the Year". It's them playing in St. Louis, the band has crazy amounts of energy. The guitarists do synchronized ninja kicks while playing guitars. It was so great me and my pals spent a good hour trying to imitate the kicks.

Better that than Hero I guess. (In the sense of me and my friends imitating it, rather than the quality of the film. Hero rocked my socks.)

  7. My Math and Physics are at the level of a Canadian honor roll high school graduate. So I don't know a ton, since I didn't take Calculus as it was not required.

The philosophly with some math interests me more than extravagent equations.

  8. While the playstation has always been razzle dazzled by the media and "less than informed" consumers (I.e "PS2 is the r0x0rz and you are so ghey for liking the Gamecube") the console has always been relatively good, and I missed out on some pretty decent games for not buying in to it.

Not that I terribly regret not getting a PS2, but it would have been nice to have all 3. Regardless if it has 0.3% less gigaflops than whatever else we are comparing it to, I think I am going to enjoy the gaming experience that arises.

  9. I'm perplexed by quantum physics and I am wondering if there are some books I should read that fall into the category of "Quantum Physics for dummies" or something like that. Light reading that will give me a better understanding, then work my way up to something harder.

    Any suggestions?
