It's called a "Dual Disc" Apparently j.Lo has just released a album on this format and NIN just released a 10 year anniversary of "The Downward Spiral" on it as well.

SOO good coming out of my r50 with the porta corda. Although it really brings out the artifacts and clipping.

I suggest holding out on this release, as DVD and CD player manufacturers have reported defaults in their players with these new discs.
Sadly this was a razzle dazzle idea that isn't going to last long.

A HiMD camera has been mocked up before, so we expect one is on the horizon.
5gb would be cool, but I'm not sure Sony is ready to ditch all the old MD formats, although this would explain why Sharp and all the other MD makers have yet to show any signs of life in the HiMD arena.

I got the q55s for free when I bought my r909 from someone.
They are really good headphones if you can get them cheap, although I was sure they were going to fly off my ears when I was riding my bike really fast.

While I'm not 100% learned in the ways of global politics, I think Dex and Aeriyn are saying mostly the same things but in different words.
Personally, living in Alberta I have a Canadian ideal system with a rather Americanized slant on things. I'm somehow seeing how Aeriyn is upset with what capitalism has done to her job, but I also understand and 100% agree with what Dex is saying. (I'm not choosing sides here, be sure of that)
The thing is, to stop all this capitalist balderdash, buy your chicken from a local market, skip safeway and visit your local hutterites. Till some of that grass in your back yeard and grow some natural food for you and your family. Not any of this "Garden"(registered trademark) food, but something you grew without anything you cannot pronounce sprayed on top. Buy used clothes, or from home grown manufacturers.
Personally, I don't think this makes you a bigot, I'm not sure what it really makes you, but stop feeding a global monster that is running around gorging on the resources (both human and natural) of every country in the world.

There really was consumer demand for optical out.
Even on DVD players, opt outs aren't 100% standard. My first DVD player had just Coax out, mostly because people just use the RCA cable to hook it to their TVs.
So in the end, it was RIAA, consumer demand, and cost probably ended the digital outs on portable players. It is really hard to find PCDPs that have Opt outs these days, and even then it's at the top of the line.

I think it is disheartening that capitalism has gotten this far.
That an economy would pretty much shaft it's own people to try and inflate it's self. It is also very sad that this "Buy and Trash" disposable mind-set we've got going on has gotten a lot of people wanting the cheapest possible price, rather than something that will last them a little bit.

I'm not a pro, but my understanding is that the powered mic won't sound as good as the unpowered one.
I'm thinking it is mostly due to the fact that you can craft a better quality pre-amp in a larger box rather than the tiny area of something like a lapel mic.

Rather good deals if they both are in working order.
The S1 is a rather good netMD model that hasn't gotten a bad review around the internet MD forums.
The unit is a lot bigger than other MD recorders, however, the pictures can be deceiving when it comes to how small it actually is.

Nokia 3595, it's terrible and I painted the face plate black!
I am thinking about getting an unlocked Nokia 3300 to replace the 3595.
It's got mp3 and AAC compatibility, I can think I can throw tracks from iTunes into it for use as ringtones. It's cheap and won't extend my contract.
From there I think I'll wait out my contract with Rogers "At&t" wireless, and see where this Motorola + Apple iTunes phone goes.

I would assume that there is some digital copy control as well.
However, Dex is correct. You can't copy something like a DTS stream. Check your DVD player's manual, I know my player has some audio output settings that I will assume can change from whatever to PCM.

Rather cool, but our brain has troubles with sounds that come from "infront" of us.
Even when you close your eyes, it is hard to trick yourself into thinking the sound is coming from anywhere in your direct path of vision.

Colour is of no difference.
As far as I know, there is no variants of the nh900 except colour and accessories.
Check the Minidisc.org browser.

I agree with Cori in a sense. There is no need to bash the iPod. No one is going to benefit from bias bickering about the formats.
People seem to really want to either justify or put down their purchase to the death. They just dropped a lot of money on portable player and it makes sense for them to either be really mad it doesn't work, or defend spending money on something someone else thinks is stupid.
I think unless people start stating simple facts based on a user's wants and needs, I'm going to be a little harsher on people bashing either the iPod or Minidisc. Locks on topics and warnings will go to people who are going to just bash things without reason. It's a form of trolling.
