Nah, I think only reason for these delays is Sony's inability to produce more of Hi-MD media. That is why they slowly trickle Hi-MD devices into market. Initially it was scheduled as one huge worldwide launch.

Hope that was just sarcasm.

Have a Hi-MD question that doesn't need a thread? [part II]

MZNH1 is made in Japan(for all markets right now). MZNH800,MZNH700,MZNH600 are made in Malaysia. MZNH900 is still mystery to me, hope it will be MADE IN JAPAN. -

Japan Direct. I have expirienced very good service from these guys. TIP. Before you order, send them an e-mail as to ask for the quote or something. You may be able to save few bucks,as they quoted me 20 bucks less than price specified on their web site. http://www.japan-direct.com/cartitem.asp?prodid=560 -

That's the word from Sony representative. I have also looked at some aussie on-line stores and they all have 07-08 ship date. Anyway I also decided to order mine from Japan on Monday. I'll use oportunity to order gold colour model  that won't be available here in Australia. -

As far as I'm concerned, it apparently does. For currently released MZNH600/D its SS 2.0. There were some rumors that MZNH1 released in Japan would come with Sonic Stage 2.1, but reading from Japan-direct web site it still comes with version 2.0. I think, from now on,there will be more frequent updates to SonicStage software in future as it became centerpiece software for Sony's digital downloads from its Connect on-line store. (ala. iTunes). During NetMD era there weren't that many updates and software was (still is) crappy. I personally, would like to see, easing of some stupid upload restrictions imposed by current version. -

I live in Adelaide. Just today I spoke with someone from Sony and they have told me that MZNH1 won't be available here in Australia until the end of August. Plains sucks. I am considering ordering it from Japan now. -

Yeah I have checked MZNH600 at the local SonyCentral store, and wasn't really impressed by the look/feel of it. It's a big plastic chunk compared to nice finish of previous generation NetMD's. $799 price tag on MZNH1 looks bit unreasonable to me given current exchange rate of aussie dollar ,but then again you can get 10 % discount at SonyCentral and I am quite sure that you can get much better price through on-line stores in Australia. I think this is going to happen. MZNH1 will be first released in Japan,Europe and Australia. US market will first see MZNH900,800. Then,US will get MZNH1 and other countries will get MZNH900,800. This is what I gathered just by looking at different supply sources, web sites etc. May be wrong? What do you think? -
Ok!Cool then. Everything is here. Hype is here, manuals are here. So when do we get to see/buy these "fine" :wacky: devices. I have been waiting for MZNH1 or MZNH900 to be released, for 4 months now.
-
Ok,but why MZNH1 is 5mW regardless of region? It will also be sold in Europe. Cheers
-
Only 3 mW headphones output on MZNH900 european model while US model gets 5 mW. Why?

Unfortunately I don't have any press or dealer credentials to attend this launch event. I ve heard this from other person who will be going. Anyway good news, cuz me was thinking that we d be delayed for some time after euro and us launch. Cheers

Strange that. Don't see why would be a problem to ship few thousands Hi-MD units to NZ. Sorry I tend to think that NZ MD market is small enough for them to have volume problems and therefore cause any launch/shiping delay. I'm quite sure that you ll get them around the same time as we here in AUS. If not then just order one from here

Sony Australia has sent official invitations to press for Hi-MD launch event on 26 May 2004. There is also possibility that they will be demoing new Hi-MD devices at Sydney home show (13-16 May). So if you live in Sidney or near you can go and check it out. Cheers
