  1. Where,da hell all this Malaysia made MZNH1 paranoia is coming from??! MZNH1 units ARE NOT made in Malaysia. Even if they were what's the problem with that?? Cheers
  2. I wish this thing could also continute to play songs while im importing others(ala iTunes). Well, guess SS programers never heard of multithreading.
  3. I have done some MZNH1 sound tests yesterdee. I recorded Sade Greatest Hits CD onto MZNH1 in PCM, using optical cable connected to my Sony CD player. Reference listening equipment was Panasonic portable CD player and  EX71 in-ear headphones. So I listened original CD through Panasonic CD player and then through recorded Hi-MD disc through MZNH1. Overall, there wasn't that much difference to the orginal CD dynamic wise. Though, I found MZNH1 sound, to be bit more hissy. Could that be DSP thingy? Cheers
  4. Thanks for that guys. I transfered all files from Temp dir onto my laptop, and did manual installation of each component. Works Great. Cheers PS One question! What is the difference between SS2.0 and 2.1??
  5. Dang!! Is it possible to download whole package at once. This thing downloads installer first??!! I dont want that. Cheers
  6. Hey skyther  E3's may not lack a bass response to a you. But believe me,coming from a Sony's EX71SL they do dude. EX71's are certainly not state-of-art headphones. They don't have exceptional mid range, but boy sure they pump lotsa bass for in-ear type headphones. Cheers
  7. Not the unit casing as much as single line display and remote.
  8. :wacky: Hm. I find MZNH1 sound better than NetMD generation of MD's. I use Sony's MDR71SL fontopia headphones. Never liked E3's while they never gave me decent bass response when used with MD. So I sold them to a happy iPod owner. . I have also found that (this is purely subjective) i get better recordings when using optical cable (eg transfer from CD player) then through SS transfer?.
  9. http://www.japan-direct.com Yes,they are all japanese. If you visit jd web page you'd be able to see it from the pictures.
  10. Press and hold jog-dial for 2 seconds. (Remember different menu items appear when you just click or when you press and hold). Scroll down and select last option from menu.(Click) Select 9 option (click) Select 1 option (click) Voila . English.
  11. If you pre-order MZNH1 or MZNH900 from SonyCentral Australia, you will receive bonus ECMDS70P unidirectional microphone (valued @ 150AUD) and carry pouch. Cheers
  12. Yep, still using the Sony Adaptor to charge the unit. Adaptor connects to the voltage adaptor? DIAGRAM  Wall->Voltage Converter->Sony Adaptor->Minidisc cradle.
  13. No. I live in Australia and our electricity is 240 V 50 Hz. When you buy from Japan, most places would offer you voltage converter. I received mine for free (courtesy of JD) :rasp: . It converts to 100 V.
  14. It is made in Japan. But be careful! Remote and power supply are made in China  Remote is exactly the same for two MZNH1 models (gold/silver) What's new in Sonic Stage 2.1 ??? How is it better than SS 2.0?
  15. As said, it just that I'm crappy @ taking pictures. Yeah it does look silverish but that's because of camera flashlight . I have tried to make some adjustments to my camera but heh eh. Overall, unit looks really sleek. It's very small and pictures don't do the justice until you hold it in your hand. This is smallest and lightest??(hm never had MZN1 or MZN10) MD Sony has ever made. One line display on the unit, initialy comes as a shock because it is so tiny.(pictures can be misleading). In daylight it is ok because its very sharp display and you can look at it from quite few angles. Thing I found is that it can be very tricky looking at it under artificial light (light bulb etc). I am not sure if this applies only to gold unit but magnesium casing of MZNH1 glares back straight into your eyes, and I kid you not it may dazzle you. :wacky: Another thing with it, is that is really sensitive to fingerprints. You touch it and it leaves greasy like mark on the unit. Remote control is defaulted to Japanese, but can be switched to english only without any problems. Remote itself has an awkward feel to it. I found it difficult to use without bending and twisting my fingers. Display is crisp but nothing sensational. This remote supports older generation of minidiscs. I have tested it with MZN910 and MZN710. It displays 2 line text on MZN910. Jog dial on remote works only with MZNH1 and I am not sure if it would work with other Hi-MD units. Japanese model comes supplied with USB cable but no optical cable. Supplied headphones are MDR838 and and they are nothing to write home about. Unit also comes with Sonic Stage 2.1 (Japanese) software. Edit: For those people who really appreciate decent on unit display,MZNH1 may not be the best choice. It's probably the best that you see it for yourself when it becomes available locally and make up your own mind. I am quite content with single line display on main unit. Sound quality Well,I am not an audiophile and lot of it has already been said before. In my opinion MZNH1 sounds little bit better than (MZN910,MZN10). Sound is (how to say) more focused. I would agree that digital amp makes the difference. Volume is mighty too. It goes up to 30,and its much more powerful than MZN910 that I compared against. Cheers
  16. Hi. Here are some pictures of my newly arrived MZNH1 that i ve taken last night. I ll post few comments (my thoughts) later. Sorry for pic quality cuz im shitty photographer with shitty camera. Here MZNH1(right) next to MZN900 Remote in english Mzn710,Mzn910,Mznh1 from left to right mzn910 and Mznh1
  17. MZN900 yes. Remote displays almost same stuff that you see on unit display. MZN710 only one line + one line shows track numbers (as far i can remember damit) I ll have closer look when I get home today.
  18. Well I have tested it last night with MZN900,MZN710 and it worked great. So I assume that it will work with MZNH900. Cheers
  19. Hi. I'd like to post few pictures of MZNH1 (gold) taken last night,if anyone is interested of course. Problem is, i don't have any web server on hand here . Is there any other way to post few pics. Cheers
  20. Hip Hip Hooray!!! It's here. Air express courier delivered sweet package to my door half an hour ago. Gotta rush of to work now but I ll post few pics tonight. Have to say I'm impressed with the look of this device. Finish is absolutley amazing. Now to your question. It is defaulted to Kanji of course as its japanese model, but you certainly can switch it to english only. I have also received instructions of how to do that. Few clicks on remote menu and good bye Kanji . Cheers
  21. Yeah I did. Ordered mine from Japan from Japan-Direct. Gold model is only available in Japan. Still waiting for item to arrive, because of stupid slow Australian Post. When it arrives, which I hope ll be soon, I will post some pictures and initial comments.
  22. I would have thought that only digital recordins(those you record via optical cable)can't be modified. Don't think that there's any problem with uploading of analog recordings. Am I mistaken? Cheers
  23. Well, hopefully those who work for Sony have some Anyway it's really pointless to worry where product is made these days, considering that parts that make it up,come from all sorts of places. It probably should read ,Assembled in Japan or Malaysia. At least you'd hope that those Malaysians can put few screws in few right spots properly.
  24. Had a few Malaysian students while I was teaching (tutoring) here in Adelaide Australia. Besides, my cousin works in Malaysia right now. From watching program on SBS about Malaysia. Side Note: I also liked interview that former Malaysian P.M Dr.M.M gave to news channel here few years ago, dissing our PM (little Johnny) by saying that he's acting like a local sheriff. ,and generaly agreed with lot of what he said.
  25. Anzsilver dude. If you need Kanji support then import your MZNH1 directly from Japan. Only Japanese domestic model has this and  it's made in Japan . Not Malaysia. See even Japs don't trust them to make high end models. :rasp: Side note: Malaysians are very neat, hard working people with very high work ethics and motivation.
