  1. It doesn't matter what capacity rechargeable you use... it'll just take longer to recharge if it holds more.

    Good news.

I found a new apartment. It is with a very nice girl named Paige in Southside B'ham. The rent is affordable, the tenents are computer nerds and gamers, and there's high-speed internet already run in. So I'll be back with a vengeance come next month! Skyther, Chris, we will play Gunbound, but I will not delete FFXI. Sorry Skyth.
  3. The BC-7HT will charge any gumstick battery, even those not made by Sony. A battery is a battery is a battery. Although, I think it would take less time to charge a 10WM (1000 mAh) than it would to charge a 14WM (1400 mAh). I imagine this charger could also charge those Mashi Maro 1750 mAh batteries as well...
  4. I heard that too... but I don't think anytime soon, not until the next generation of consoles in any case.
  5. I'll post pictures when I have all of it... ... all I have now is a Sony CDP-CE345 and a MDS-JE330... :whatever: I hate being poor!
  6. Sony likes to use the same EEPROMs for a lot of different MD units... the whole R900/R700/G750/N707/N505 yadda yadda. I dunno, but the EEPROM hack for these units may work for the N510/NF610 units as well... although I've never tried it. Both units are essentially repackaged N505s except the NF610 has an AM/FM radio function... (Yeah, this is sort of off topic... bite me. )
  7. Chris did start it, and he's the admin... and I'm sure he knew it would turn into a flamewar...
  8. I'm much cuter than he is.
  9. Little PS2 = no hard drive. Suck. Yes the hard drive only is used for FFXI right now, but Square is releasing two more games that will use it, and I suspect that developers will continue to create new MMORPGs or other games that make good use of the PS2 hard drive.
  10. Here's the scoop. The North American model 600 (MZ-NH600D) cannot recharge batteries as it does not have a connection for mains power. The UK model 600 (MZ-NH600) most likely can recharge NiMH batteries in the AA formfactor. I believe it comes with a crappy 700 mAh battery; you can get AA NiMH's with capacities up to 2100mAh... maybe higher.
  11. This is in the wrong forum... Since I don't use Hi-MD, I can't honestly make any statements here, except that I know Hi-LP, while worlds better than LP4 (ugh), still sounds like mud. The differences between compression modes become more apparent the more closely you listen to them. Take a song and record it in Hi-LP, then sit down with a pair of big comfy headphones in a nice comfy chair in a silent room. If you do this I guarantee you'll be able to pick out most of the compression artifacts. If I do this with even old SP-mode recordings, I can occasionally hear an artifact or two. However, if you don't want to start hating Hi-LP, I suggest you never do this. I used to record all my music in LP2 mode until I realized how icky it sounded to my ears by listening to it in a quiet room with good-quality cans. ATRAC 4.5 for me, thank you very much. 292kbps of old-school MD goodness! ... yeah I know eventually Hi-SP will be noticeably better than ATRAC 4.5. One day. Maybe when Sharp makes some Auvi-equipped Hi-MD units. And Sony makes an actual Hi-MD deck.
  12. Do you really want to explain to me why I can't get married to the person I love? This pretty, sweet girl crying her eyes out because she doesn't understand why the government has to be such heartless bastards that they won't let her express her love and comittment to the girl she fell for? Do you want to be the person who explains how wrong what she wants is, how her mere existence is an abomination and God wishes her to be stricken dead? Chew on that for a while. Four planes went down killing millions? The count I saw was 3,405 dead in 9/11. Millions? Surely not. Because we were attacked by al-Qaida, yes, we do have a responsibility to retaliate; and we did. I totally agree with invading Afghanistan and hunting down al-Qaida. In fact, that is what I believe our main focus should be. When Dubya ignored his own advisors and decided to push for a war against Iraq (at the same time pissing off the UN and all of our allies), I was flabbergasted. But no. We invaded Iraq. We annoyed our allies; fuck, we basically insulted Germany, France and Japan on national TV for refusing to help with the war initially. OF COURSE THEY COULDN'T HELP! WE MADE THEM SIGN A TREATY TO THAT EFFECT. At the end of WWII, all of the Axis nations had to sign a treaty; they can't have offensive military forces. And here goes Dumb Dubya, first asking them to help, then ridiculing them publicly because they declined. Because they were constrained from accepting. Bush, of course, left this little fact out. Ugh. I really don't care to argue about politics anymore. The reality is this. Bush or Kerry. The choice really doesn't matter much to normal people. They're both only becoming president to fill their pockets with money. They don't care about the American people. They care only about money and power.
  13. I don't think that unit will be able to read CD-RWs... Regular CD-Rs would be fine though.
  14. Interesting, and not wholly unexpected. Al-Zarqawi is Jordanian, not Iraqi. He's only in Iraq to organize resistance and for the chance to kill US soldiers. So much for the Iraq/al-Qaida link.
  15. SonicStage blows donkey balls. I absolutely refuse to use it now. My MD/portable audio is totally separate from my PC at the moment, other than my downloading of MP3s which I subsequently burn to CD, pop in my Sony CD deck and make MDs in the old-fashioned, real-time SP method. I've found that speed of recording discs doesn't count when that recording isn't occupying your PC. I can be playing FFXI or chatting or downloading or my computer can even be turned off, and I can still record MDs. So the waiting an hour for an hour of music thing isn't a big deal. I can't wait till my JE330 gets here. Titling tracks with this confused N505 sucks.
  16. It's gonna be a 5-pin Mini B cable. You can find them on eBay for around two dollars US. With shipping and all, ends up being about ten dollars, but that's a lot better than the twenty or thirty you'd pay for one at Best Buy or Circuit City.
  17. what he wants might not be hard to do. the bizzare USB cable that Sony uses has extra pins used for the charging of the unit. if someone could mate up a NH1 USB cable with a 6vDCin AC adapter... ... I don't think it'd be hard to do, if you could identify the extra pins.
  18. I honestly believe I only look good in black & white. My hair is kind of a dark blonde and my eyes are blue-green. In this picture I'm wearing a rose-pink shirt and shorts (even though you can't see them). This was taken with a really crappy digital camera.
  19. None of the Hi-MD units, and very few Sony MD units in general, have the record function on the remote. A good deal of Sharp MD units do, however. The MD-DR77 is an example of this functionalty.
  20. Do you USE them? Hasn't the PC1 been powered off for a month? Hey skyth, would it be crazynuts to put a DAC in my amp?
  21. I would have done nothing. It's not our place to meddle in the politics of other countries. If they attack us first I can see the merit in a retaliatory strike; I agree with what we did in Afghanistan. But by pursuing Iraq, which was not a threat, and handing over the task of finding bin Laden to the Afghan warlords, we allowed our target to slip away undetected and unhindered. The reason we went to war was this: Iraq has biological/chemical weapons. Simple enough. But wait, they didn't have said weapons. And Colin Powell pretty much admitted that the Bush administration knew there were no WMDs in Iraq and hadn't been for 12 years. I distinctly remember after about two weeks into the war, everyone stopped talking about WMDs and started talking about "regime change." It's like the Bush administration just forgot all about the very reason we attacked in the first place and started pushing out a bunch of bullshit, hoping the American citizenry would be too stupid or ignorant to notice. America sees itself as the white knight who champions the cause of freedom. But our idea of freedom may be fundamentally different than that of other countries. In their eyes, we aren't Sir Galahad. We're the Black Knight.
  22. Get a D-777 or a D-311. Compressed music is for noobs! Long live PCM! ... ehh, wait, I'm listening to compressed music.
  23. oooh... I didn't think of that. GO SHARP! *does a little cheer* Make those Hi-MD units!
  24. I'm just trying to find any old 4.5R deck... Maybe if I can make off with a JE330 for under 75USD... I'm jealous of Skyther's PC1.
  25. Sorry, Chris. I got distracted by the religious stuff. :whatever: Like I said, no problem with religious people, but the ones who think they have to constantly prosetlyze to be good members of their faith... just really piss me off. Anyhow, if I was in the President's place, I would not have gone to war with Iraq. Two points here. One, the common reason he went to war as defined by liberals is oil. But, since we've gone to war, gas prices have skyrocketed. Two, there were no chemical/biological weapons there. There hasn't been any since 1992. The primary reason for going to war as cited by the Bush administration is patently false. "Regime change" is the most absurd bullshit I've ever heard. Oh, the US doesn't like how this country is run so we go kill all the government officials and put one we like in. Come on. It's not our responsibility. It's not our duty. By what divine right do we have to come into a sovereign nation and tell them, "change your regime or die!" We are humans. They are humans. Just because we have more guns does not make us their masters. Might does not make for right. The United States is not the rulers of the world. Period. Yet our administration has for the last eighty years, pretended we were. As Jadeclaw said, the reason we even have terrorist groups squaring off against us is because of our propensity for sticking our nose in other countries' business. And as for the people of Iraq, I'm honestly sick of hearing about them. I'm sick of hearing about US soldiers dying every day for those people who don't even want us over there. They want us to go away; otherwise they wouldn't be attacking us! There are innocent people in Iraq yes, but it is not our responsibility, nor is it our right, to protect them. That falls to the Iraqi people themselves. By not allowing them to fulfill their own responsibilities, we are essentially calling them incompetent. We need a president who will worry about America and not the World. Kerry is not that president, but he's a hell of a lot closer than Bush. Edit: It's remarkable the difference in posts between Bush supporters and Kerry supporters, not just in this forum but in others as well. Kerry supporters tend to be long-winded, well-spoken and have all their facts straight, while Bush supporters get to the point, but the point isn't always true, and they are rather unclear and erroneous in their rhetoric. I guess Bush and Kerry supporters are just like the people we support.
