Hi, Have you tried removing the battery for a couple of hour's? This should re-set the player.
-
Based on these symptoms, can anyone tell me what's wrong?
watcher666 replied to aeloria's topic in Software
hmmm....It sound's like either a faulty laser block or possably some dry joint's on the PCB! Do you have any soldering skill's? -
yeah, so if sound's better because of the hiquer quality component's then it must sound better than a portable because the minature surface mount caps etc are not of that higher quality and don't last long!
-
ahhhhh, so all those better component's must produce better result's than those tiny and compacted surface mount component's on portable's?
-
Im not sure either! The JB940 is VERY heavy, and when you look inside it's packed with tecnology, so all that must be doing something!!! Especially when you compare it to the tiny single PCB of most portables! Id like to read the result's of any listening test's that people have done!
-
ahhh but it's the "UK tuned special edition" , So you wont like it!!! Ok, i'll use the JB940 for recording and the N10 for a paperwe.....erm playing! :rasp:

Reading your message again and having a think.......Lead's me to the conclusion that your MiniDisc is fragmented! If this is the case then the only way to fix it is to Erase the whole disc! But, to rescue your data, i would hook up the "LINE OUT" of your R50 to the "LINE IN" of your PC soundcard and record your disc as a wav file. Then i would find another MiniDisc and then record (via your pc's "LINE OUT") the wav file back onto your MD in real time. You'll have to live with the stutter though. Unless you add track mark's to the beginning and end of the stuttering section then erase the newly created track! Hope this help!

I have an MZ-R90 at home, which is an old-ish unit, so i will try recreating your situation with that and then see whether i can come up with a solution!
-
Hi Sorry to hear about your troubles! What does you'r Minidisc unit say on it's display when you try to erase a track mark?
-
Hi I have recently purchased an MZ-N10 (to replace my R90). I also have an MDS-JB940 home deck which i think sound's fantastic  My question is, Which do you think is best for recording? The JB940 or N10? I only ever use "SP" and have no interest in "LP". I record in real-time optically from my CD player. The N10 is a newer unit, so im guessing it has a newer ATRAC, but i've heard and read in hi-fi magazine's that the MiniDisc Deck's (JB940) alway's have superior sound quality! Has anyone ever done any comparison's between portable's and home deck's in term's of recording/playback quality? Thanks

Can you racharge a Ni-MH battery inside a NH600?
watcher666 replied to watcher666's topic in Minidisc
Nope, i can't get it to charge! That's a pitty because it would have been a very simple to implement but VERY useful feature! Now i have to go and buy a charger Do any of the other Hi-MD unit's (if any) that take AA battery's do internal re-charging? -
Can you racharge a Ni-MH battery inside a NH600?
watcher666 replied to watcher666's topic in Minidisc
That's what i thought! I have attached the charger but nothing seems to happen, even if i press stop! Im using the charger from my old R90, which is a 3V and so should be compatable with the 600, It power's the MD fine, but i just can't get the bugger to charge! -
Hi An excellent article! Do you know whether this problem also effect's the N10? (i think the internal hardware is the same???) Thanks
-
hmmm, Was it a new disc? If so then it would suggest that it is a defective disc and the MD was unable to write data onto the defective part's of the disc! Hence the skipping  But, if it was a disc that you've used before and know is good then try getting a MD len's cleaner. Did you say they were live recording's? Be careful not to jump around or jog the player during recording as this also could be the cause of your troubles! Hope this helps!

Can you racharge a Ni-MH battery inside a NH600?
watcher666 replied to watcher666's topic in Minidisc
Yes, the 600's Do have an AC connector on the bottom, the UK version also has a Line/Optical IN which i don't think the US version has! (im not sure though, so please correct me) But yeah, it does have an AC input and i have the AC adaptor but cant figure out how to charge the battery! Any ideas? -
Hi I was just wondering, is is possable to charger a rechargable NI-MH battery while it's inside the NH600 using the charger? Thanks!

Thank's for all your help guy's, but i've decided to keep the N10! To me, sound quality is paramount so im going to keep doing what i've been doing for 7 year's and record in real time through the optical output of my CD player! anyway, im quite happy having 1 album per MiniDisc as it keep's things nice and organised, also i wont be able to play back my new recording's on either of mine or my partner's car unit's or the jb940 in the living room if i kept the Hi-MD unit. Perhap's i'll give Hi-MD another go in a couple of year's time when there are car and home deck's available!

ohhhh ohhh ohhh!!! I think i've made a discovery! What happen's if i record a track onto the PC using Hi-SP (256kbps) then transfer it to the N10 using SP compatability mode! Will the PC just write the track at that sound quality but in SP format? or will it convert it down to LP2? What do you think? Thanks
-
Ok, on your recomendation i have withdrawn my NH600 from ebay! But now what do i do with my N10, if im making the difficult switch to Hi-MD it's useless! Amazon (£148) won't take it back unless it's faulty! I could lie....hmmmm I can't justify keeping a machine that just cost me £148 if it's just going back in it's box! (although it is loooooovely)
-
Yeah, i have a Hi-MD unit (600) but i've put it on ebay as im not too keen on it!
-
poo! As i said, iv'e been using MD since 97 and have for the last 6 years been recording in realtime using the digital optical output of a CD player, but i thought it would be nice to copy a CD to MiniDisc in a few minutes insteal of 60 odd minutes...that's all i want Sony!
-
Hi Iv'e just got my new N10, (although i've been using MD since about 97 and have had an R30, R55 and an R90) and was wondering if there is ANY WAY on this crumbling earth to record in NETMD mode using SP?????? It completely undermines the point of me getting my N10 if all you can use is LP2 & LP4 (which is good for audio books)! Please help!
-
Oh...Does the E10 really sound bad? I was thinking of getting one, but got an N10 instead for the NETMD part! I thought the E10 was supposed to be Sony's 10th anniversary model and be the top sounding MD out there!!!
-
I REALLY want one of these! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...5724134111&rd=1 Does anyone here actually own one? If so what is it like? Thanks
