  1. The idea of Hi-MD replacing DAT is something I've always hoped would happen. I'm a home musician who mixes down to DAT and then compiles albums on MD. I'd previously wondered why Sony would go to the effort of having PCM on Hi-MD. So as a home musician, I'm pleased with this development, since I'll be able to have the convenience of MD-editing without sound compression and no DRM. On the other hand, I fear I may agree with the person who said it looks like Sony might be losing interest with MD as a consumer format. But a healthy "consumer" DAT community using (semi) professional equipment has survived for years, mainly archiving and trading live concerts, as well as used by home musicians. With the demands of professional audio, Hi-MD would likely go multi-channel, as well as 96/24 high definition. "Consumer" MD would really be a high-quality nitch market using professional equipment. Not a bad situation, if MD must die as a consumer format.

  3. I've recently been re-recording MDs on my RH910 that were last recorded around 5 years ago. Mostly off-brands like Princo and Hi-Space. Some of them take forever to "save" once I stop recording, making it not worthwhile to record on them any more. But these same MDs will still re-record fine on my old MD equipment. Newer MDs record fine on my RH910. Since the problem MDs are old and off-brand, it's no big deal. But I was curious if anyone else has MDs that won't record in Hi-MD modes, but record fine on pre-Hi-MD equipment.
  4. Plus pre-recorded MDs are really kwaii! ** ←
  5. Is there any reason I can't use my RH910 without the battery, if I'm going to use it for home use, for the time being? The reason I ask, is that without the battery, it won't shut off, until it times out, unless I unplug the adapter, and plug it back in. Is there any harm in doing this? I'm just trying to save wear and tear on the battery, since it charges briefly each time I turn off the unit.
  6. I probably should have mentioned that I don't exist in Sony's eyes, since I'm a Mac person. So apparently MiniDisc is just a PC accessory now, and just a response to the iPod. I'm very pro-MD, but can't understand why Sony insists on limiting itself so much, especially where MD is concerned.
  7. Does Sony have plans for non-portable Hi-MD units? I'm terribly old fashioned, and like to do my recording on a home unit (with a PC keyboard for titles) and then play the discs on a portable unit. Has Sony forgotten about people like me?
