SOLD thanks for looking

mrsoul, I'm glad you asked coz I was wondering also... though I would appreciate if someone posted an exact LINK to a proper one... Also, I just got the Aiwa recently for this purpose... was I the one you were referring to??

It seems in this forum every section is very specialized... then the only one that isnt' so, says anything "NON-MD" related. For instance, I'm curious what people use to store their MDs as they're on-the-go, like if anyone uses the little plastic shell cases the Sony bulk packs come in... and can you order more of those shells anywhere? Where should this question really go????

FIXED!!! omgjbox.exe encountered a problem NOT Windows...

ok... coz I think you also may need KB887811 installed as well. Let us all know what you find out about net connection, etc... I suppose I could just disconnect my cable modem & try the software... brb. -
I noticed the description for this remote states "Full size 6 letter (half angle 12 letter) × 3 lines" What the heck is "half angle 12 letter" mean??? Is it possible to ENLARGE text, so that rather than 3 lines you have 2 or 1 BIGGER lines of text???

oh.... kinda' like asking daddy why the sky is blue when he's an astronomer.

Hard carrying case w/customizable interior

Dag - I thought I was anal! Very nice setup... though certainly I would need a different configuration since I don't use my NH900 for field recording, just for listening to tunes... hmmm.. I suppose for my setup I would cut out a whole section to fill up w/ like 20 MD discs, then headphones, some gum sticks, battery charger and another hole for my Gameboy so I can jam & play at the same time. Hey you guys from Maryland? I live there too!!! Columbia. -
Just wondering... since audio compression is necessary to fit more music on a MINI-CD as opposed to a regular-sized CD, and now suddenly we can fit 1 GIG on the same size disc, anyone know if perhaps our hi-MD discs are actually mini-DVD-Rs???

when you say "everytime this happens" I guess you're assuming that every time Windows has an update, if you don't run the update then the software will hang up? I certainly hope that's not the case - my guess is that you need the right security patch to initially start the software. UNLESS (and I wouldn't put this pass Sony to do this) every time you use Sonic Stage it secretly uses our net connections... I intentionally did not sign up to the "connect" program to get those "5 free downloads" for that very reason. But I certainly can understand your frustrations -- if you didn't see my post from just 2 days ago, you would have found me debating returning my new MD for an iPod and getting frustrated - however, I knew coming into this MD world that people hated the software... I stuck through the hour or so to get things straight, and I have no regrets, I love this lil' gizmo and I think it's worth it. -

note: I also refuse to get service pack 2. I didn't do that, like I said, it was merely a small security PATCH. If you want further help on this, either call Sony (they actually helped me) or if you can wait till tonight, I can tell you exactly what you may need). -

Since I just went through this, I think I may know the problem, that is if you're using Windows XP. Fresh install or not, you have to run the security updates... I can't remember offhand which number update is required, but try updating all of them. (go to microsoft.com and run an auto-update). That actually fixed the probem for me, though I managed to narrow down the exact "hotfix" ID number that I needed (that's a security patch number you can read in control panel-->add/remove programs). -
I did that already - the only OPTION choices I have in the OPTION menu are: "Menu Mode" and "Disc Mode"... if I select Menu Mode it's "simple" or "advanced", if I select "Disc Mode" it's "hi-MD" or "MD".... I see the page in the manual, and I see what your'e talking about, but there is no "BEEP" text to be found in my menu OK NOW I GOT IT - I used the remote stick and somehow managed to do it! Geez! Thanks again - I'll be a very happy listener now!!!

I don't see such an option... anyone else know if what "me" said was true?

Is Joystick Operation for Sony Hi-MD Units as bad as MZ-N10?
campekenobi replied to Graymoor3's topic in Minidisc
My nh900 remote has a SINGLE-line LCD, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. pic:http://www.minidisco.com/mz-nh900-ob-171.html -
I used LP by mistake the first time I input some tracks (techno) into my hi-MD. Listening to it I thought it sounded "fine", like a regular mp3. Then when I realized my mistake & re-digitised in SP, it was like... OH.... WOW. So I figure LP is good if you have nothing to compare it with, like two tracks on the same disc w/ diff bitrates.

When I skip tracks or pause on my NH900 unit, I get that annoying Sony BEEP. What's most annoying is if I have my unit in my car stereo AUX input, and have the stereo CRANKED loud... the BEEP sound almost shatters glass when skipping tracks. Is there any way (or even hack) to get rid of the beep??? Thanks.
-
I think the nh900 would be PERFECT if the LED on the body was backlit. Other than that, it rocks. And if you want to get that remote AND 14wm, they're both available (I just ordered them) from Audiocubes
-
Correct me if I'm wrong here; when you use Simple Burner, there is not OMA file left on your PC, say if you wanted to put the files on ANOTHER MD disc... if you use SS, you'd have the option to rewrite w/ a quicker transfer speed the 2nd time yes?
-
Let's be frank, unless I'm going to blow the bank, is there really such a thing as tiny ear bud phones that actually can put out low frequencies to give a nice bass punch?? I listen to techno, so the kick has to.... KICK.
-
I am certainly not experienced enough to say much, but I just got the NH900, and if it were between the two, it's certainly a budgetary decision. If you've got the money for a NH1, why wouldn't you get that one? All-metal body, the top of the line, etc... I see no reason why you shouldn't go for NH1 except for money being an issue. I'm happy w/ my NH900 thus far (the 24 hours that I've owned it  )

mrsoul & vova - cool - thanks - great points, I appreciate the feedback.
-
omigosh - that's so funny, I didn't even realize you were the one BEHIND the very program I recommended to you!! I guess you're not the person to ask if it actually WORKS then, right - lol. (I was concerned about installing something that changes/alters windows dll's)
-
When I first put in a disc, my NH900 always defaults to "normal" mode... is it possible to set it somehow so it will always start in "group" mode?? edit added: also, is there a way to turn of the infamous annoying Sony BEEP when you skip tracks or pause??
-
hmm. I'm not sure what to think now, because I just tried the MD Simple Burner program, and I noticed that as it rips from the CDrom, the MD player has the REC indicator blinking, as if it's recording directly from the CD to ATRAC... I would think that would be best ??
-
well, first i tried the Sony cheapos that came with it (I know, bad idea), then I tried my nice studio ones (which usually need some boost anyway) (AKG 240s)... and I'm about to order those Shure M33s ones... I just love my music LOUD, and my Sony Sportsman (CD walkman) does it that way. (oh yeah - I tried the sony headsets that came w/ my CD walkman - the in-ear ones kinda -- anyway, they were a tad louder, but much less bass
