  1. Yes, that is quite right. You can view all Chinese texts within a Windows environment but once it's in the VAIO Pocket, it's based on existing kanji library.
  2. Warmest welcome, Rumz! I love my VAIO Pocket!
  3. Remember, the VAIO Pocket will support Chinese language texts as long as it's within the current kanji library. That's why some Chinese text will be displayed as "?" Please note this apply to all Sony ATRAC based device.
  4. It is likely you will experience artifacts when converting from another lossy compression. Instead, you should convert from original uncompressed source.
  5. Welcome to MDCF, lolofon and johnnytsunami. Please download the service manual for your respective units from the download section and follow the instruction as outlined within the service manuals.

  7. Technically, you should have no problem using the VGF-AP1L with Windows ME. The only problem in terms of stability is with SonicStage. To my knowledge, SonicStage works best with a XP based system. Nonetheless, I would highly advise you to upgrade your OS system to XP Pro SP2.
  8. When you say ATRAC, do you imply ATRAC (SP) 292kbps? If so, the PSP do not support ATRAC (SP) 292kbps. The PSP only support the following format: ATRAC3: 132kbps, 105kbps and 66kbps. ATRAC3plus: 320kbps, 256kbps, 192kbps, 160kbps, 128kbps, 96kbps, 64kbps and 48kbps. MP3 Nonetheless, as Chris had mentioned, please update to SonicStage 3.2 and PSP firmware 2.0. The new update will allow you to transfer ATRAC3plus onto any Memory Stick PRO Duo media.
  9. Yes, there's a difference - notably the option to encode video in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC with bit rates of 768/384/192/96kbps and aspect ratio of 16:9 and 4:3.
  10. New Sony Image Converter 2 Plus In conjunction with the new updates offered by PSP’s new firmware 2.0, – notably H.264 video playback – Sony has released Image Converter 2 Plus. The new software retails at 2,100 yen and 1,050 yen (upgrade version) for existing users of Image Converter 2. The most significant improvement of course is the option to encode video in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC with bit rates of 768/384/192/96kbps and aspect ratio of 16:9 and 4:3. However, resolution still remains at 320 x 240. Just a note of interest: I've joined P-TV and downloaded a beautiful H.264 trailer – 皇帝ペンギン <Emperor Penguin>. The video quality of H.264/MPEG-4 AVC is simply amazing. So, for those who has a PSP and somewhat fluent in Japanese, please go and sign up an account with P-TV.
  11. --> further details E3c Technical Specifications: Speaker Type: Wideband MicroDriver Sensitivity (at 1kHz): 115dB SPL/mW Impedance (at 1kHz): 26 Ohm Cable Length: 1.57m (62 inches) Net Weight: 28g (0.9 oz) Input Connector: 3.5 mm (1/8") gold-plated stereo plug
  12. The link is fine; my location = Boston, MA. As for your first query: as far as I know, that is the only software that create animated files for the NW-E40x/50x series.
  13. If you are interested, I've included a frequency analysis between ATRAC3plus 192kbps and Mp3 192kbps CBR in this thread. However, please note that the result is by no means a conclusion to sound quality.
  14. That's odd. I got a few pieces from RadioShack at $6.99 each last week. Well, if you are interested: here's a pictorial of the blue 1GB HiMD.
  15. Welcome to ALC, Rabbit. Among the new ATRAC3plus bit rates, you can only utilize the 192kbps with the NW-HD5. It is plausible to state that a new firmware is required for the HD5 to utilize all the new ATRAC3plus bit rates. Hopefully, Sony will provide us with the necessary firmwares. If you have the PSP, you can use any of the newly available bit rates.
  16. That's the same registry entry for the PSP or rather all ATRAC devices that employs MagicGate Memory Stick Device. The registry edit I have outlined is somewhat different: How to Enable Japanese/Chinese Text Support, for ATRAC files with non-Japanese PSP. Pata, would you mind trying the followin entry and see if it works for your E99? --> Using regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Corporation\OpenMG\PD\{24FBD48F-275E-4b3f-A169-08969C996A0D} --> locate the entry called "Char" and change its value to 2. --> locate the entry called "Language" and change its value to 2. If it does, I will change the title of this guide to include all Memory Stick dependent ATRAC devices. Thanks.
  17. Welcome to ALC, Pato! It's highly plausible with non-DRM ATRAC3plus. However, I still need to conduct a test as my current library consist of DRM ATRAC3plus.
  18. Thanks Max. My current ATRAC3plus library has DRM restriction. I definitely need to conduct tests with non-DRM ATRAC3plus to determine if one can transfer the existing non-DRM ATRAC3plus file from the ATRAC device - especially the VAIO Pocket and MS90D - to another computer with SonicStage 3.2.
  19. Welcome to ALC, Max! So, you can confirm that you can utilize ATRAC3plus 128kbps with the NW-MS70D? This is great; I will need to check it this with the MS90D. If there's not too much trouble, can you verify if you’re able to transfer the existing non-DRM ATRAC3plus file from your MS70D to another computer with SonicStage 3.2? Thanks.
  20. According to SONYmatome, you will need to construct your own .hel files and then use the provided compiler (courtesy of SONYmatome) to create the necessary .nwm files. As for .hel files, you will need to use MONOmation studio FS v1.0.6. The software is free and you can obtain it [here] if interested. Have fun.
  21. Did you try the registry edit outlined in this thread: Titling ATRAC Files In Japanese/Chinese, ... using non-Japanese SonicStage? Let me know if it works. Otherwise, we will figure something out.
  22. Congratulations to all ... and warmest welcome to all our new members!

  25. Welcome to MDCF. The VAIO Pocket (assuming you meant the VAIO Pocket) does not support direct transfer with Canon Powershot series. However, it does support direct transfer of files off a USB card reader. I am closing this thread as all relevant non-MiniDisc discussion has been moved to ATRACLife; please feel free and post your other query in the appropriate section of the forum.
