Most brilliant! I am pleased that it worked out for you. Happy MD and enjoy your stay here.

Where are you located? If we could locate the part number for your unit's software CD-ROM – there's a possibility for you to acquire it direct from your local Sony DAPC. *Edit: I was just reading the user manual of the MDS-JB980 and realized that the software CDROM included with the unit is not SonicStage but the older OpenMG Jukebox CDROM. Perhaps, this is why your system did not recognize the JB980 properly. (since the NetMD drivers present in your system was derived from the SonicStage CDROM.) I am sure you can attain the JB980's drivers from any OpenMG Jukebox CDROM. I will try and locate my copy of OpenMG Jukebox and extract the NetMD drivers for you. *Update: Please try the NetMD drivers I've extracted from the OpenMG Jukebox CDROM, which was supposed to come, bundled with the MDS-JB980. I hope this will resolve your dilemma. *attachment removed - uploaded to download section of the forum --> click here.

Possible conflicts with other utilities/software ---> One that I can think of now is ffdshow; although it actually relates more to playback issue. I am sorry that none of the suggested solutions work for you. Perhaps, one of our members would care to chime in at this point.

As per requested, I reviewed most of MZ-E501's European (including English, French, German and Italian) user manuals to ascertain its headphone output; and I came to a conclusion that it is possible the European MZ-E501 do not have a reduced headphone output. However, this may just be a fleeting conjecture as this particular unit, the MZ-E501 is a 2001 model and it should have a reduced headphone output required by EU law. The European headphone output ceiling is directly related to the 1986 EU Council Directive 86/188. As you know the premise of this law is to reduce exposure to noise in order to lessen the risk of hearing loss; to reduce noise levels preferably at source, and to provide for the provision and use of personal ear protectors. So, it is likely that the MZ-E501 did conform to this regulation. However, the European user manuals do not have precise indication of the European headphone output which we usually see. Thus, it is plausible to state that the MZ-E501's headphone output regardless region is rated at 5mW + 5mW. For your convenience, please review the attached User Manuals.

I am sorry that it didn't work for you. Your experience: usually indicate: 1) conflicts with NVIDIA drivers; 2) need for Windows update (to SP2 if using XP system or SP4 if using Windows 2000 system); and 3) possible conflicts with other utilities/software. I know you've already installed SP4 for Windows 2000, but do try applying this Windows 2000 (KB887811) patch. According to Microsoft and Sony, this patch will resolve the omgjbox.exe issue - related to users already have SP4 installed in their Windows 2000 system. I hope this solution will resolve your problem this time. Good luck.

@ realist77: If you are still interested, JR.com stocks the ATH-CM7Ti Titanium earbuds for $149.88.

No, you do not need to uninstall and reinstall SonicStage 3.1 after changing NVIDIA drivers. Just make sure you reboot your system upon removing the old drivers before applying the a new one.

What was the principal NVIDIA driver you have prior to the downgrade? For your information, the NVIDIA video drivers currently installed in my system for Windows XP Pro SP2 is 56.73. You can find a selection of NVIDIA drivers here. Give version 56.73 a try and do remember to reboot your system after removing the drivers. I hope that helps. Good luck.

Welcome to MDCF! Could you please provide additional information regarding the NVIDIA drivers currently installed in your system? Newer NVIDIA drivers - such as version 66.93 - are known to cause problems when you try to launch SonicStage.

I am quite positive you can't order the color matching RM-MC35ELK remote and charging stand (Model number for the charging stand is BCA-MZRH10) in North America. Nonetheless, for your convenience, the following are part numbers for the color matching RM-MC35ELK remote and charging stand. Please note that I am not certain which part numbers correspond to its respective color scheme. RM-MC35ELK 147754921 147754931 147754941 147754951 BCA-MZRH10 Charging Stand 147924711 147924721 147924731 147924741 -
Answer to: #1: No issues whatsoever. It should work with the RH10. #2: The EL version of the MC55ELx remote is the counterpart of the ELK version. The only difference between the two is the latter supports Japanese/Chinese/Hangul text whereas the former does not. Sony DAPC is merely an acronym for Sony Direct Accessories and Part Center; [click here] the center offers original Sony accessories and parts. The part number for the RM-MC55EL is A1071446A and unfortunately, it will cost you a hefty $156.95. So, it is better to acquire the ELK version from eBay or elsewhere if possible.

I see a few units (both the blue and silver versions) listed on eBay. Take a look and see if it fits your requirements.

You can definitely uninstall OpenMG Secure Module by using "Add or Remove Programs" within your Control Panel. For NVIDIA drivers: refer to toxigenicpoem's instruction and try this link.

SonicStage 3.1 does recognize PSP as "Memory Stick (PSP)" in the transfer pull-down menu and you do not need to downgrade SonicStage to version 3.0. Please reinstall SonicStage 3.1 accordingly.

Great. I am glad you've finally figured it out. Just a note of interest: you can also edit/title/dislplay Japanese/Chinese text with an English version of SonicStage by editing the registry value and launching SonicStage with Microsoft AppLocale. Run a search within the "Software Discussion/FAQ's" section. * moving this thread accordingly.

Answer to # 1) Unfortunately, no. You will have to resort to an import. But you can certainly order the EL version from Sony DAPC. 2) Not certain. Need further clarification from D-NE20 users. However, functions should be identical to its predecessors. Anyhow, here are some pictures to help you ascertain the functions of the remote. 3) No. The Japanese RH10 comes bundled with color matching RM-MC35ELK remote. Please check my blue RH10 thread for clarification.

Sorry about that Tiesto; the deal-auction transaction discussion led me to move it over to "Classifieds." Since you will be posting pictures and likely impressions, I shall move the thread to "Pictorial/Reviews." Looking forward to your update.

I am not sure which graphic drivers you employed. Assuming you are using one from NVIDIA, it is important that you know that SonicStage is known to have conflicts with later version of NVIDIA drivers. If that is the case, you could try and downgrade your video card/graphic drivers accordingly. This downgrade solution of NVIDIA drivers will usually resolve* the SonicStage “crashing” problem similar to your current predicament. Good luck. * almost 100%

Yes, you are quite right. Media degradation is a major factor for sound quality; and disc type should have no siginificant affect on sound quality. However, I read that some user experienced somewhat clarity in bass with the Sony MD2000 media. I suspect it's purely subjective. Nonetheless, the MD2000's disc magnetic sensitivity of 2dB higher than all other media may have a plausible sound quality improvement to some ears.

Indeed, you are quite right. The equipment archive is slotted for an overhaul and any missing information will be rectified accordingly. Slowly but surely.
