Wow cfairfowl...You have a STUDER. Is it difficult to maintain it ? Can you still get spare parts for it ? Well i know kurisu, it's a off-topic and so belongs to the trashcan but i think it's worth to maintain the rememberings of certain things. Actually i have to complain about the little power at the Line-out of my MZ-NH900 when i have it connected to my stereo. I already knew this kind of problem from my old SONY R37 and i think it's typical.

Just feeling a little bit enthusiastic about to have found that section at Minidisc forums after starting posting first in the Hi-MD section. Today i started reading through all the posts here and got inspired enough to search the internet for some information. I'm still suprised that SONY's DRM allows the upload of own recordings made through the digital input of my Hi-MD unit. After i read about the superior quality of the hardware ATRAC encoder over the software one of SonicStage i brought my stand-alone Cd-recorder back to life. It has Tos-link connections so that i could convince myself of that quality advantage using the built-in encoder of my 900. When i came to record some music in PCM format i doubted that SonicStage will accept me upload it to the computer. But it allowded it...i thought it wouldn't fit into SONY's politic of making digital copies of cd's with the posibility of fast upload ? So that great feature let me dream of a portable high-quality solution for taping live music. Now i want to add an external battery powered mic-pre with A/D converting to overcome the analog stages of my MD unit. After i saw only high-prized units like GRACE LUNATEC V3 or APOGEE's Mini Me through mid-prized like CORE SOUND's MIC2496 or DENECKE AD-20 , i finally got stuck at that nice designed box.Although it's lacking a mic-pre it's quite interesting because of the low prize of 75 euros. Did anyone tried that box in conjunction with a DIY battery powered mic-pre . I would appreciate much any links of schematics.

you're right. in the more detailed PDF manual you can read: Formats supported include stereo ATRAC3 at a data rate of 132kbps, and stereo ATRAC-X encoding at data rates of 48kbps, 64kbps, and 256kbps.

I also was quite disappointed when i realized that feature lacking... I think you'll have to wait for a Hi-MD Deck with Digital-/USB-Out...

Hi there, Has anybody heard/used of that little encoder app and knows if it makes better ATRAC3Plus encodings then SONY's SonicStage. I'm aware of the similarity of the companies name with the SONY product so i'm asking me if it uses the same program code ? N-Code Link

thanks marc for your great tool !!! it did a first great job in converting my friends concert to burn it from wavelab... if it's encrypted it probably wouldn't help to use the raw-data import function of wavelab, right ? phil

thanks xispe, it worked, yes. sorry about just re-editing my previous threads. think it can be kinda confusing to follow the discussion that way. can you verify my opinion ?

just get stuck as soon as i entered some value because its changing constantly. how can i change that value for 113 ? ------------------------------------------------------------------ well, finally i got managed to do the hack but i couldn't hear any big difference in volume between the default value A1 and 21 or 25. but here is the interesting. what i was noticing as i got to the equalizer section stepping through the presets while listening to music was that there is a difference in volume when i'm listening the same piece of music with the UNIQUE eq-preset switched on in a hacked mode.either with the value 21 or 25. it just seems louder than listening with the UNIQUE eq-preset in the default mode(A1). my idea is that the 113 code is controlling a kind of auto-gain for the eq-section just to prevent distorsion with extreme settings. just try to raise the basses at high volume output of a record which already has strong basses. it probably will get distorted, what i think happened to xispe . winamp has got that option too. anyway.i'm thrilled about hacking my unit. thank you.

I'm willing to give it a try.i own a mz-nh900 unit in his european version and i'm quite unsatisfied with the output volume when i'm walking down the streets of south-spain. you know it's kinda noisy here all people who are visiting me are shocked when we went to bars to take some welcome drink and the local people aren't hesitating to shout eachother though in a friendly kind of way but i'm just lack of a little more output from my unit. BUT... i'm still waiting that one experienced user from this forum is giving it a try before me or at least can taking me some doubts i still have about entering in the service mode.i will read again that thread about it. i'm just to curious...only afraid of that himdman have really honest intentions. sorry for saying that himdman ... so, anyone ? p.s. isn't it still impossible to save changed values in service mode ?...will have to read that thread again, i think. heh, great. seems that someone there just heard my pray. hi xispe
