  1. Yeah, that sounds about right. I was wondering, does it use the 802.11b standard for connection through the USB connector or does it use a seperate standard? The only problem I've had with mine is that when I installed newer drivers for my modem, the wireless connector stopped working and I had to reinstall that as well . I'm guessing it could be something to do with Internet Connection Sharing.
  2. Sorry, I was recording in MD-LP, 132 Kbps. I tried playing back a Net MD I recorded ages ago and had the same problems. p.s. You can find a load of second-hand commercial MDs on Amazon. I bought Cypress Hill - Black Sunday . Hi-MDs record and play fine though, the old net md I recorded was making nasty clicking and whurring noises.

    NH700 Woes

I'm using Sonicstage 3.3 and Windows XP SP2. I tried to record a Net MD from Sonicstage on my NH700 and none of the tracks would play properly (there were huge gaps), I tried a commercial MD and that played fine. I tried recording on to a couple of discs and I got the same problem. Oh yeah, and I was also using 256Kbits Lossless at the time, probably doesn't matter though.
  4. Is it one of those long, circular things? They're quite good. There were a load of factory rejects of this MP3 player on eBay, my brother bought 3, one for mum, one for me and one for him. Mum's was built all back to front and the screen didn't work on mine!
  5. I got fed up with my old MP3 player because I couldn't decide between bitrates. I've found that I hate lossy WMAs with a passion, to me the distortion stands out a mile. I remember I listened to a demo CD once and I could tell it was mastered from crappy WMAs. In the end I think I settled with something like VBR min: 96 kbps: max: 192 kbps.
  6. Are there any programs that let you compare lossless and PCM, bit-by-bit? You're only basing your argument on your stupid listening tests, if you can hear a difference then you must have a VERY sharp ear indeed. Perhaps you're just imagining there's a difference. OK, think of a ZIP file. You put a word document in a zip file and then you take it out again, no problem. If any integrity or data was lost this word file would probably become corrupt. Dex Otaku was talking about the QUALITY of the music being 1:1, not the actual data itself Duh.
  7. I use 2, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0. Gives my NH700 with my EX71s a little bass boost. I used to have it slightly dipped at the end too to remove some treble.
  8. Yeah, I would quite like one of these but couldn't find anywhere that sells them in the UK.
  9. My friend dropped his HD player and has had to send it back, it crashed and there was no way he could remove the battery without voiding the warranty. On the other hand, I've dropped my MD recorder a couple of times and it still works fine. On my NH700 I get quite a good battery life on just one rechargeable AA. If you're not bothered about taking all your music with you everywhere you go, then a MD Recorder might be a good choice. HD players are more desirable for most people, I bought my MD recorder because I'd always wanted one for many years and when Hi-MD came out I couldn't resist. A couple of my friends have MD players so it's quite useful for swapping music about. A friend lent me one of his mixes on MD once.
  10. Perhaps it's something to do with the size of the sectors on the disc.
  11. Check out the downloads section in the forum: John K, that name rings a bell.
  12. Yeah, I had the same problem importing lossless WMAs once. It's because the artist tags are all different, try playing around with the compilation checkbox in Album properties.
  13. I noticed my NH700 automatically added track marks when I was doing a vinyl recording, though it doesn't always get it right. It's not a problem because I can simply remove redundant trackmarks afterwards, I find adding them in a bit more difficult.
  14. Can anyone tell the difference between Hi-SP and PCM?
  15. Keep your private things to yourselves
  16. How does a charger actually know when a battery is fully charged? My guess is that the rate at which it charges gradually slows down, until this is detected by the charger.
  17. Personal preference of course
  18. My friend's mindisc player is completely scratched up, mine still looks like the day I bought it. But when it comes to my phone I don't care so much, that goes into the pocket with my coins and keys! I've just realised what a boring post this is, sorry.
  19. The same as the power ratings in the UK, but what do Australian adaptors look like? We have three pin plugs over here, arranged in a triangular shape.
  20. Damn it, can't find my receipt! Question: Is this a popular problem with the NH900 also? I'm considering getting one of these from Minidisc Australia.
  21. Yeah, I have this problem too. It's one of the main reasons why I bought into Minidisc, so that I could record late night radio
  22. The rotating jog control on my MZ-NH700 is starting to fail me, has anyone else found this? I'm guessing that the contacts are starting to wear away . As I scroll through my music sometimes it won't scroll and the screen will just flash.
  23. Well I haven't had my first gen recorder for that long, so they had better keep supporting it ... You might need a stupid plugin or something like that to make it work with MD.
