It is totally incoprehensible that Sony has still not released a himd deck and car unit, considering 2G units cannot record (on the unit itself) in the old md formats ( sp, etd)!

The point is that the masses do not make live music recording but make photo/video live recording. considering that Hi-md 1GB allows 500kbps encoding ,it allows 30min SQ quality MPEG2 video. Hi-MD is ideal for archiving (durability of magneto optical,size-smaller would be unlabellable) I still pretend prerecorded Hi-Mds are possible for the same price than prerecorded CDs. The only way for himd is universality. And if the masses are lazy, Sony should advertise it by showing it's easier to just take a MD before to jump in our car than connecting to computer for delete some tracks from our full HD player in order to download the bad mp3 encoding last LP of our favorite music band!

The truth is that we-all MD SUPPORTERS- have been sleepping for a long time (how many time since the last petition for suppression of "end search"?) There is a long time that we should have kindly (but with insistance) contacted Sony for they produced Hi-md deck, Hi-md car unit, MD photo and so advertised MD as an UNIVERSAL REMOVABLE MEDIA FOR A WIDE RANGE OF CONSUMMERS. Instead of this, we are now waking up in a deffensive reaction that can often turn to angery. Yes Sony is Sony , but Sony of the 90's and 2000's (with Sonymusic contengency) is sadly not Sony that created the walkman in the 70's. And for this Sony can be blamed. But I still think that, what we have to do now, is to make POSITIVE AND KIND SUGGESTIONS to Sony for improving MD sales - WITHOUT WAITING THEY MAYBE DROP THE FORMAT. As we should have done long time ago. Of course, if Sony finally kills the Md, as I've told before, I will boycot Sony, Sonymusic and all products. For sure.

I mistook my vote for md-133 instead of md-105FX ; impossible to change now... not very important.

Some years ago Sony made a 650MB MD view also called MDDATA2. IT use the same laser ray frequency than DVD. Himd use classic CD laser frequency with a specific magneto-optical reading (ddw I think) that allows 5 x cd DATA density. With the combination of HI-Md technology and the laser of MDview/dvd superhimd could reach around 5GB! equal to miniipod! and with blue ray...

Yes HI-md is 2 years old , and with 2nd generation it is a real mp3 player. But it is much more than this...

my Onkyo himd deck is on the ship from Audiocubes. now I need a himd car unit and it will be alright for me. I like archive my music in pcm on mds (and in wma lossless in the files part) I prefer archive my work and important files on Md than cd-r because mds (magnneto-optical) have more durability.

Do you rememder one and half year ago? what became these HImd units?

And for individual email to Sony? anyone has email adress?

This summer when some of my friends -who are musicians and old Md users- saw my brand new MZ-DH10P, they were amazed and very interested: they just not even know HI-Md exists! they were enthousiasted by this all-in-one "removable HD" unit and as old MD users happy to see it still alive. But I looked deception on their faces when they realized it has no mic/line input. Sony,to make an Ipod killer, make a real all in one "Photo-video-line/mic input " himd unit. AND ADVERTISE IT! SO MUCH PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IT EXISTS!

I think collective online petition AND individual emails would be more efficient

don't you all think that these weeks we are waiting for are a little passive? what about a petition that every member of this forum could send in direction of Sony's staff. We used to make it in the past. personnally, I would say the whole Sony MD units I've bought ( and I made my family/friends buy)since 1995 (personnals, decks , bookshelves, boomboxes, car units ), that I hope Sony let me buy HImd decks, Himd units , md camcorder,etc.. BUT : I would also say to Sony that if they kill MD before it gives its full potential, I WILL NEVER MORE BUY ANYTHING FROM SONY ELECTRONICS OR SONY MUSIC ! NO SONY DVD RECORDER? NO SONY PLAYSTATION FOR MY CHILDREN! ME ALIVE NO! Sony, you will never be the inventor of the HD walkmann, its to late: if one dream it , APPLE made it. BUT YOU ARE the inventor in the early 90's of the removable recordable media that we all dreamed if you just let it grow and listen who has been supporting the format in the past. I have tons of sony sleeves cases, because I changed them for crystal jewel cases like minidiscacces or mapli ones to make pretty covers. I'm an ebay and paypal member, if you are interested.. but I live in France so I don't know if it woth the shipping cost... What I dont like with the new blue Himd is that small writing screen where I cannot put a pretty stick. Why Sony always wastes time and money with unnecessary changes???

if in the beginning, MD had Pcm and computer files storage capacities, with cosequent prerecoded catalog, it would have take a big paart on CD. Today, Hi-md is superior to CD for all purpose. Do you know what type of technology has been put in the March modul, for scientifical data recordation? No CD, nor CD-RW, nor tape, no flah memory: just Magneto-Optical disc!

OK if you buy your discs at street stores in France, you pay 10 € (12 US$) But we can find HI-md for 3,82 AUD (2,9 US$) at this shop: e-shop this signifies that Sony can produce discs for less that 2 US$ each, and mass production can provide great reduction (at the beginning tapes weren't very cheap; 2 years ago dvd-r blanks were commercialised at 10 USD each) Considering that prerecorded CD are sailed 15 US$, hi-md prerecorded shouldn't cost more that 17 US$, which don't make many difference...

I've got japanese unit, but I didn't try mp3 yet. sincepcm and hi-sp oma without drm, unlimited uploading, (and Marcnet renderer) exit I'm happy with it. if I try MP3, I will tell you.
