A friend of mine is offering me a MZ-N505 and 4 blank discs for 20 bucks and I've been lookin for a good deal on a backup player. My question is, if I have a standard disc formatted to hi-md or a hi-md disc recorded in lp4, will it play on a netmd unit? If not, what do I do to make the the disc is in netmd mode and not hi-md.

PCman, Cool avatar! Was it hard to find a blue version of the nh600? I had trouble so I just got a silver.

I just want to be sure I can still get a new player if they ever discontinue them. I just got my 600d, but I'm sure I'll be lookin for a new one in about 2 years.

I'm lovin the 600d right now, but I just realized that I could of gotten a 2nd gen model, mz-dh710 for under 120 dollars. If I had known this I would have purchased it from the start. But did I make a big mistake? Is their any real advantage to the 2nd gen unit? (no I don't need mp3 playback)

I have only been using MD for a little over a week. Yet I'm hearing rumors that MD is over. Is this true?

As I said twice, No Ebay! I don't care how reliable they are, I no longer trust the site in general. I found a site that has it for 80 bucks off froogle. Just an FYI, this will be a xmas gift.

Whats your favorite hi-md player that you own? I only own one so the decision is easy, MZ-NH600D. The little 1st gen unit works great for me and I'm glad to have joined the MD world.

Anything besides ebay? (I only bought off it twice, both times got ripped off.)
-
Thats the deciding factor. I don't want it to skip songs when I hit the arrows. Some I'm gonna get the 40ELK. Anyone know a place to get it at a good price (besides ebay)? So far, everywhere I looked has the price higher than my player itself.

On the RM-MC33EL how do you flip through your songs?
-
Is a line in port required for a remote?
-
I think he is referring to that rectangular input thing.
-
Where do they plugin in the minidisc player? And do the remotes take total control over the md player?
-
Thanks, I'll look into them both. I'm lovin my 600D so I'm working on adding stuff to it to use it to its fullest extent.
-
Alright, I'll look into that remote, any other suggestions appreciated. edit-This page http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_RM-MC33EL.html doesn't have the 600d on the list as compatible, are you sure it will work?

Where can I find a remote for the MZ-NH600D? Any with backlit LCDs?

What do I do with these icons?

I thought it was finally time to replace my Irock 520 32MB mp3 player. I looked around, but I couldn't find anything that really suited it, especially in my price range of under 90 bucks. So I talked to one of my friends and he recommended a MiniDisc Player. So I looked them up and I was impressed. I ordered the MZNH600D after getting some advice from these forums and I am blown away by it. Long battery life, GREAT sound quality (at 48kbps!), unlimited storage, sleek and small design, and very easy to use controls. I love the jog dial wheel, makes it very easy to flip through large numbers of songs. Anyone who has a large library of songs to flip through will quickly grow to love this jog wheel. I currently have 230 songs on the 1GB disc it came with, I still have 663MB left. And you can hold a total of 675 songs per 1GB disc, and for 6 bucks a pop, thats an awesome deal, unlimited storage! I bought a five pack of regular discs instead though for only $6.25 ($1.05 a disc). Each disc holds 300MB, about 200 songs. Dispite what I have heard about ATRAC, I love it. ATRAC3plus sounds fantastic, even at 48kbps, which is the minumum rate and I use it. The software (sonicstage 2.0) is very easy and simple to use. The LCD is great, you see everything you need and the song/artist name scroll across the screen so you can see all of it, its only missing a backlight but I can live without that. I couldn't be happier. And best of all this thing was only 80 bucks, and with ipods as much as 300 bucks, this is a steal. I am now a diehard Sony Minidisc fan and I will always recommend them to others. (already convinced 6 people to buy a minidisc player) And of course, thanks to the people here that gave me the info I needed to get me to to buy the 600D, its awesome! Here's some pictures:

Thanks, I purchased the px 200 off amazon.com.

Is there anyway to change the recording speed of a bunch of songs already on an MD Player? Or would I have to delete, then re-record all of them at a different bitrate?

I don't care about upgrading my headphones. I just want leather padded ones. Please post links.
