  1. does anyone remember a topic about a 110 min md that was specially made about 2-3 years ago by using all the spare space on the disk including titling space? people were cloning them and there was a warning that they would not work in every player? i also remember an 86 min md with a similar restrictions statment. also about 2-3 years ago.

  2. When installing SonicSuck...erm..Stage 3.3 on my machine, SB was updated as well. Still listed as v2.2, but I assume the codecs for Hi-SP etc are the same as SS.

As Connect player seems to still be a fair way off, and talk of more new SonicStage versions, one day we may also get SB with all the bitrates listed.

Allow it to transfer files (mp3/wav/wma etc.) as well as CDs and problem solved...

    :ok:

can you pick the quality setting in ss 2.3??

  3. Hi,

not necessary to uninstall dbPowerAmp - it has a configuration menu where you can disable this tooltip informations if they bother you (Start -> All Programs -> dbPoweramp Music Converter -> Configuration -> dMC Configuration):

    [attachmentid=1324]

    Cheers - Killroy.

thanks. i will let you know. i will try it.

  4. i went home and tried it last night.it worked good. the files converted fine but i installed the bdpoweramp program and it made changes to my windows explorer to provide more info on the audio file when my mouse passes over it. it's very annoying can someone please tell me how to turn it off. i dont need all that extra file information.

  5. Yes, that's it! There's no "purchase" button on that page, though, so I'm assuming they are no longer for sale. Still looks like I'll have to get a clone of somebody else's....

i have been reading this forum for years and i remember discussion af a 110 min standard md. does anyone remember that? i swear there was a discussion on how they made it.

  6. Can you bring broken Sony products to the Sony Store, or is it really not their problem?

DUDE TRY TO SEE IF OE OF THE BUTTONS IS STUCK. I AM A ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN. THOSE KIND OF THINGS HAPPEN A LOT.

  7. DUDE . THAT HAPPENED TO ME. the ribon cable on the magnetic write head is cracked. dont ust the unit unless you cut tha cable which would make it aplayer only or. fix the cable or get a new one and replace it. so do you have any interest in selling it. i could use a player only. my original 707 also has a bad laser.

  8. Unfortunately it doesn't work. The car stereo (Tevion something) recognizes both usb stick and mp3 player through the usb port (both fat and fat32 formatting), but not the nh700 in data mode. It supports mp3 cbr/vbr and wma cbr/vbr but neither windows pcm (wav) nor wma lossless. Considering the usual (lack of) sound quality in a car, lossless would be a waste anyway. I guess HiMD is not 100% mass storage compliant, you can't even format a disc using windows explorer.

that stinks! i didn't know that you couldnt even format it with windows explorer. what does windows say when you try?

  9. I don't understand why someone would want to bother with the inconvenience of an external HiMD in data mode if these players accept both audio and mp3/wma data cds. A usb stick or sd card might be smooth to use though. My sister has one of these car stereos with usb input and sd card slot. I'll give it a try later.

i would use hi-md's because as far as normal use goes they are almost indestructable. treat a cdr like an md and it lasts about 2-3 months for me. usb sticks are cool but a 1 gig is still expensive. mem cards are also epensive too. md's are awesome. i have some that are 6 years old they still look good and work perfect. i also need a new car stereo.

that would be awesome. please let me know.

  10. The radio will not decrypt the music from the MD discs so the files you use with the radio will not be playable on the MD unit, you will need to keep 2 copies on a disc, one to listen to on the Minidisc player and one on the radio.

    Also,

The fact they can use a USB storage device does not mean they will talk to a Hi-MD unit.

My AV700 has a native USB controller for reading from cameras, memory card readers etc BUT refuses to work with my Hi-MD as it is not fully standards complient (?). It just produces a red cross and says it cannot access the device as its not a storage class device.

The other thing, not all WMA players play lossless. My AV700 will play all WMA v10 files including encrypted, that is all except lossless. It just says that the format is not correct and fails.

i was not sure if it would not play wma lossless. lots of players will not. i just noticed the usb port. the hi-md is supposed to be comlpient for a removable storage device. that should mean it can read any standard mp3 or wma files right off of the disk. we really need someone to try it and find out. yes you would need 2 copies of your music but for some people that might not be a big deal. i was thinking of buying one.

  11. i have a MZ-NE410

i'm trying to record songs to it and when i want to hear the recording the quality is bad and there are "tapping" noises in the background... has anyone had this problem... can i do anything?

THE TAPPING IS FROM SCRATCHES OR SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING SKIPPING ON YOUR CD DRIVE. THERE SHOULD BE A setting for your cd drive in widows, and a setting in sonic stage to enable error correction. turn them both on clean the disk and see what happens. it might take a lottle longe to read the cd.
