Mine came before yours (posted same day), but then again I do live in the UK.. Actually ordered two of them, hoping that this will keep me going forever in MD. Glad to hear that Guitarfxr posted up a good little recommendation of the B10, kind of justifies the expense, if that's needed. If only Sony had made a Hi-MD version, but these little beauties are just about perfect anyways...

Glad to hear it. The dark blue NH600 is gorgeous (IMO). I've also got an IPod-white one, which is pretty funky too. I'd get a remote for it too (most modern ones will work) to save wear & tear on the jog dial...
-
I wouldn't think that'll be too many of us here... Shame it's pick up only, though.
-
The NH600 is an absolaute workhorse. Mine's lasted since they first hit the shops here in the UK, ie. 5 years now. It's done virtually all my downloading and a fair bit of uploading since then, and doesn't show any signs of giving up the ghost. It's had it's fair share of knocks and falls too, though it hasn't been used much for playback (the NH700/800 radio combo wins it for me). I have read though (somewhere) that the NH600's sound quality is a match for the best players, so I must give it a fair go sometime. I've also read that the jog dial is the first thing to fail, but as mine's not been used much (and you can attach a remote control to the NH600) it's still in good nick. Obviously the NH600D is a different beast, but I'd certainly recommend the NH600. I've got three of them now, myself, and I wouldn't be (too) surprised if it outlasts the others.

I do remove them, but it can affect the resale value, as I've found to my cost. So best to leave it on if you might be selling it, especially 'as new'.
-
Perhaps you ought to sell it,if it's really not going to use it. There'll be plenty of grateful takers, especially when they get really rare. I let my RH10 and RH910 go as they were sitting abjectly in a drawer. Shame to lose them, but they went to appreciative homes.

Thanks for the link sfbp. I just bought one as well as a spare. Well, it's pay day!

NetMD files: Sony MZ-M100 > PC via USB
KJ_Palmer replied to sirdemon's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Uploading of NetMD files was disabled by Sony (due to their own highy restrictive DRM policies) until their very last Hi-MD recorder came out, the MZ-RH1 (or M200) which allows USB uploading for mic/line (non-computer) recordings. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way of enabling NetMD uploading in older Hi-MD recorders like the M100, otherwise someone would have been sure to have found a way by now. You're stuck with some sort of real-time transfer, or seeing if you can borrow (or even buy) an MZ-RH1/M200. -
I'm more of a CD-MD dubber, so probably not. But then again, who knows, I might be tempted...

You should check the current rating of the adapter, as well as the voltage. The Sharp one supplied with the IM-DR420H is rated at 600mA, whereas some of the Sony's have 500mA, and others 1000mA. The 1000mA Sony's should be fine as they supply enough current and have the right connector and polarity, the 500mA would probably also work (just) but the performance might be compromised somewhat.

No - don't get an I-Pod!! Just connect a 3.5mm (both ends) stereo cable to the aux in of your car stereo and your M200/RH1's line out (headphone out with the remote removed). Put the M200/RH1 into line out mode, and the sound through your stereo will sound just as good as you could wish for...

And presumably, because of the power requirements, for recording in SP it would be best to use a deck, with ATRAC Type-R encoding, rather than a portable.
-
Blimey, are we back up again..?!
-
How about A440 and Syrius as contenders...?
-
I'll add bobt to those luminaries...
-
I couldn't get on earlier today and intermittently yesterday, but now it seems OK...

The Tascam decks all seem to have a PS/2 socket for connecting an external Qwerty keyboard, but then again so do many of the Sony decks. I haven't seen many, or indeed any in the shops, but some may still be available online, or from the Tascam website. They tend to be 'professional' recorders, ie. more expensive and fuller featured than consumer decks.

Not sure about when I first got it, but there are now a very few little 'hairline' scratches or marks around the buttons, as you described. Just on the (plastic) bit that joins the display part. Only about 2 or 3 of them and they are very small, you can only see them in a direct light. Nothing to worry about, I'm not anyway. There are no other marks or scratches etc. on the body...
-
No probs, gabgar. I also keep my RH1 in a neoprene case (from one of my older MD units) to help prevent the bodywork from getting scratched. It still looks as good as new after well over 2 years..
-
It almost certainly will scratch, so it's best not to take the chance. I use a PDA screen protector cut to size for all my players' screens, though anything similar should do the job just as well.

I'll send you a PM...

About £200 might be a a good price. I'd be interested in it for that...

You do have to 'log in' again to the downloads section when you go there even if you're logged in to the forums, but a fairly obvious message tells you to do so. Maybe you have some sort of firewall or other security setting preventing you from downloading the file? Mind you I can do it on my work computer (just tried it now) and they're pretty restrictive about that sort of thing here.

The RM-MC10L should definitely work with your NH700 - I just it with mine and it's fully functional. The 2L should presumably also, by association, as it works with your NHF800, since that and the NH700 are virtually identical. Even the NHF800's radio remote should work with the NH700. There's no way (that I know of) to turn on and of the remote functionality, except perhaps via some sort of service mode hack, but that seems unlikely. It's more likely to be a dirty or damaged remote jack on the NH700. Perhaps you could try cleaning it out by blowing air, or swabbing with a tissue. Professional reapir or replacement would be prohibitvely costly, if indeed at all possible.
