This Wikipedia article covers the basics. PS3s "downscale" the audio. A better option are universal players. Universal players play SACD, DVD-audio and DVD. About.com has a solid list of players but it's a little old. You'll want a player that supports HDMI v1.2 or later. It will output the full digital audio signal over an HDMI cable to a compatible AV receiver. The best universal player right now is the Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player for $500.

You could buy one from this guy. Looks like he could use the money.

I'm prepared but it's getting pretty crazy out there. Look at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220532198280

I have a similar EH50. The player uses NH-14WM gumstick batteries. It has a proprietary power connector. You'll have to use the dock to charge the battery in the player, but the dock does use the regular yellow-tip 3V.

Wanted To buy: Sony BD-R DL & CD-R from Taiyo Yuden
bat21 replied to Happy Hopping's topic in Classifieds
When you add in shipping and handling, they're not so cheap. 2 places where I get most of my blank media is Supermedia Store and Meritline. -
I have most of those discs. I wouldn't mind taking the Daiso and Victor 'ar's off your hands though.
-
That's too bad. I hope things only get better for you Guitarfxr. I almost bought the 100V stepdown from you but I was outbid at the last minute on a Japanese LD player. Ah well.

What color is the EH70?

Is this it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-MZ-NH1-Hi-MD-Re...7QQcmdZViewItem

I bought a couple of gumstick batteries from mrsimontibbs last month. He didn't ask too much for them and they arrived quickly. So far, I'm as pleased as punch.

Bought a pair of Shure E2C canalphones. Arrived quickly in the original packaging with all of the accessories.

The manufacturer can have an impact on sound quality, but not that way. With digital media, it's about the error rate. Poorly made media will have a high error rate. Too many errors will result in corrupt or lost data. Digital devices have built-in error correction, but this only works up to a point. The technical spec Sony developed for minidisc is very strict. As a result, there is almost no difference in data quality between discs made by various companies. The biggest difference among manufacturers is the quality of the cartridge that houses the disc. Poorly made cartridges will either crack or split or the shutter will snap or pop off. BTW, I also have a bunch of Sony and TDK minidiscs that I will be selling very soon.

The Maxell Golds are pretty good but I got a set of Colors that fell apart soon after I took them out of the package. After I superglued them back together, they worked fine.
-
Could've fooled me. I've never had those problems with Memorex discs. I did have those problems with a set of MAXELL discs. Are you sure you didn't get those brands mixed up? It's a common mistake.

Now that I've switched to Hi-MD, I don't need as many blanks as I used to. I'm selling some of the excess for a $1 each plus $5 shipping in U.S. and Canada (more elsewhere - Paypal only). You don't have to buy the whole batch. I don't mind splitting them up. Most of these discs have stuff recorded on them in either SP or LP2 format. Memorex 74 - 10 discs Memorex Color 74 - 10 discs (5 never used) These don't have individual cases but come 5 to a box.

I'd love to have one but I'm broke.
