MDMLXXIII
Hello, This port is not covered at all in the manual. On your MZ-NH600 it is right next to the headphone one. What could it be? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

The_Stamp
you gotta buy the remote seperately, and is compatible with all previous remote models of any disk player released by sony
Qwakrz
Apart from any AM/FM remotes, they will not fit or work.
MDMLXXIII
Thanks for the answer! I thought it could be some "undocumented" port for support purposes. If so, this device can be hacked...
aeriyn
Apart from any AM/FM remotes, they will not fit or work.Glad someone agrees with me. :whatever: I know for a fact that the RM-MC33EL works with the NH600. I imagine that the 40ELK would likewise work. Thanks for the answer! I thought it could be some "undocumented" port for support purposes. If so, this device can be hacked...I don't think the NH600 can be hacked, but there is a possiblity that it can be. You can hack many other MD units to behave as higher-end models; I've hacked my N505 to pretend to be an R900, although some of the options don't work because the unit lacks the necessary hardware. I would not have any clue how to get into service mode on the NH600, and not sure I'd want to try, even if I had one to play with.
MDMLXXIII
I'll try this RM-MC33EL remote with NH600 and will let know. Thanks for a tip! As to hacking, I wonder if there are any service software downloads available on the Web. But it is also possible that hacking can be done with a special remote (dealer blacktool). More or less like it is done with DVD players' zone settings.
skmetal07
if u can ever find a service manual on-line, then we would be able to hack it, maybe to an nh1 perhaps
Davew
Tell you what would be good, is when a service manual comes out for the NHF800 and you could find how to hack it to give it more play modes like the NH900, the display supports Program mode for example, but you can't use it on the 800. ...what do you say, sorry? 'why didn't you just get a 900?' dunno really, I just liked the 800 better. Plus i'm not really bothered about the extras, it was just an idle thought about the hacking. It's my new toy, I couldn't......
MDMLXXIII
Coming back for a while with this thread to report the results: I got the RM-MC35ELK (a remote) and it works perfectly with MZ-NH600. Every control (including hold function) + on-screen display for title/artist. Thank you guys!
