tartan
Is packaging minidisc players in plastic still common nowadays??? or is it rare and only used for the cheaper models ??? Were any of the more expensive models packaged in plastic in the past too ???
KJ_Palmer
In the UK at least, even the cheapest (Sony) MD's come in boxes, as do the more expensive models. My NH600 came in a very nice box - far preferable to those horrid, finger severing plastic packs. Nice to have somewhere to keep your bits and bobs, obviously...Not sure about other regions, though - I think the plastic things are more common elsewhere... Fat Tires
I've seen everything recent except the N1, N10, and NH1 in plastic bubble packaging.I need to point out that I am only refering to NA products.
Christopher
The NH900 JE came in a nice black box, and I think the NH900 + NH1 euro came in such as well.
ROMBUSTERS
the NH700 came in a plastic death trap
atrain
all the net/mdlp stuff in australia comes in carboard boxes of various sizes.can't comment on the himd.
tartan
Australia's 700's come in a box, didn't see the cheaper models, but plastic "display" packs make the enclosed product look cheap and low quality. My 700 box also came with a plain white box taped to it containing the introductory offer freebies. streaml1ne
My US NH1 came in a black box. the 700 and all 5 900's we bought at work came in plastic. At least the plastic packaging on them was fairly easy to open. Just break the perforated edge all around the bubble and open. No need to take a chainsaw to it... zerodB
I always laugh when I see those North American models packaged in those horrible plastic display packs. They make MDs look like something they'd hang from a checkout shelf at your local supermarket. Hmmm.... you've got your usual assortment of chewing gum, chocolate bars, the latest cleo/cosmo mags... ooh look.... MD!
Fat Tires
That's not far from what it's really like.

tartan
Mine came on blister ← How much did your 900 cost if it was packed in plastic ??? in the bottom picture, what is the flat electronic thing that is behind the player but next to the packaging ??? it doesn't look like it's part of the minidisc package
Tiesto
I paid about US$244 including shipping on Etronics. The flat thing in the back is the panel of my cd receiver SONY CDXF7700 which has an aux-input to plug my NH900, it shows a variaty of nice preset movies (snowboarding, rally car and a electronic web), wallpapers and spectrum analyzers. The bad thing is that Sony released the new model with Atrac playback too late http://www.sony.jp/products/me/contents/ca.../cdx_f7700.html
