roguefan99
Okay I know a lot of people dont like these. I tend to get ear problems from Bud earphones, so I dont like using them as much anymore. I had a pair of Sony behind the neck headpones, and found them really comfortable, and fine for when I was wearing my helmet. I want to avoid the clip on ones (I tend to hate clip on anything!). I know a lot of people dont like these but they are only used for going to and from work (I have sennheisers for other stuff), so whilst I'd like to get good sound quality, there is always going to be outside noise problems!Well the Sony ones are on the way out (I have a tendancy to kill headpones, but these are a few years old so they have done much better than most of my buds I've had), so what recommendations for these types of headphones are there? I'd be looking for a pair less than $40 US if possible.Any recommendations would be great (especilly if linked to reviews!)
garyc
ok don't laugh...I have a pair of JVC HA-B25's great 'phones... love the soundstruggling to find a review of them!
ozpeter
There's a pinned headphone thread here somewhere.... I bought a pair of right-in-the-ear phones today, Sony MDR-EX51LP - they seem fine to me, and when I wear them I can't hear my wife..... I wouldn't wear them anytime I needed to hear, though, eg when driving. But I think these are the bud-type ones you don't like? I've also recently purchased some behind-the-head with over-the-earibits phones, Sony MDR-G54LP, which were a rush buy, but I have been pleasantly surprised by their sound especially at the bottom end - they didn't look like they would have it in them. They're an open type. And pretty cheap.Probably not answering your actual question really.
Mr Sim
however the pinned artical is quite oriented to the kind of 'phones you seemed to not really like (i.e. earbuds + clipons) there are some regular 'phones in there as well but the price unfortunatly are MIA due to the fact that this forum caters to international members. if you are however the destroyer of 'phones, clips and buds aren't the thing I'd suggest. I'd say stay with the back of the headband 'phones (formally known as "street style") in my experience they do stay on your head the best because of the over the ear mounting. However street 'phones do have problems of there own in that they are the worst shape for closing around your ears and therefor can seem quiter. also many people simply can't stand the way the 'phones rest on there ears (some even claim that it hurts). other problems are that the 'band gets in the way of jacket collars and some hats. there is an alternative they are dual style both "overhead" and "street style" I myself own a pair $30 (CAD) Panasonic RP-HG20good sound and fairly durable (I once sat on them and I'm 250+ LBs and they didn't break)
roguefan99
Yea I put the US price up as a maximum that I would go to in the worst (I'm Australian, so CAD and AUD can be close). I had a look at the pinned article and noticed that it was mainly buds and clipons. As for buds, yea they were the worst thing for me, I would always have one go (usually wiring coming loose) and that would annoy me. I fixed up a couple of them but gave up in the end. I've never had a pair of clipons but I dont think they would be that comfortable, and I've been happy with my streetstyle ones.I've been using Sony MDR-G56 which are quite nice and I'm tempted to get another Sony lot as these have been beat up (chucked in my bag, fallen off desks) over the years and still been fine. I would just like to check out an alternatives that are out there at the moment though if anyone has recommendations.Never had a problem with the band and my collar (never got it hooked on my labcoat!), and its always fit under my helmet so I'm happy with the style. Bananatree
Koss makes good phones that go behind the head. Their sporta and porta pro headphones are pretty cheap and I have noted that they look very rugged. They have another set KSC 45 which was a behind the head style phone IIRC.
