Hi, first post here smile.gif

I picked up an MZ-RH10 yesterday. The manual is Japanese (I live in Japan), which I essentially can't read. Has anybody seen any .pdfs of the English manuals around? I scoured some of Sony's sites but it was like wandering though a labyrinth. It's my first MD unit, so I'm not quite up to speed yet. But I like it so far!

In Canada MZ-RH10 it is not available, in April normaly.

Do you have a battery like in the MZ-NH900 battery rechargeable who can be replaced ?

or an internal battery ?

Thanks, Francois

I got "black", although it looks more like sort of a colourless shiny colour from most angles.

I don't know the MZ-NH900 (this is my first MD), but the R10 comes with a small thin rectangular removable recharchable battery, "NH-14WM(A)". It also comes with a weird clip-on tubular AA battery adapter which can also power the unit.

It MUST be a better or equivilant Digi amp that is used in the NH900/NH1, yer go forwards not backwards in evolution.....oh wait, this is SONY we're talking about.... blink.gif

I have considered buying a NH900 myself when prices drop, but if older units are not compatible with the features of the 2nd gen I will probably buy a RH10.

Yes I have visited the web site of Sony in Japan and I see in the web page, that in the web page of the RH10 it's only a Digi Amp.

You have a HD Digital Amp only in the MZ-DH10P (with camera) or RH910 (with no ELD) ... in the RH10 you have a ELD with a Digital Amp only.

you should have looked more carefully, and you would have noticed that you can add an AA battery adapter pack on the right side of the unit laugh.gif

attention : if u guys do think AA battery support is a good thing, and u guys will be happy if there is AA battery support, so why don't u guys never mention this to Sony?

adding a secondary AA battery case just won't add any weight to a portable or make it less slim

the problem is they've got to know what u guys think about it

did u really want it?<---this is the question to them of most concern

I dont think the 910 has a HD amp.

For HD Digital Amp on new Sony model you can check in these pages, you can do a copy paste of theses addresses in Altavista Web site for translation japan to english. But you can see the logo for digital amp on the description in the left of the page.

I am not very happy the new MZ RH 10 with OLED screen, has no HD Digital Amp.

MZ RH 10:

MZ RH 10

MZ DH10P

MZ DH10P

MZ EH930

MZ EH930

are you sure? because minidisc recorders/players have just one plug, but theres a menu option within the MD recorder/player that makes it a lineout instead of a headphone.

OK, I didn't know that. I searched the menus & I couldn't find such an option. But I can't say for sure that it's not there.

And of course _the_ question:

Are you able to playback MP3s that you transfered to the player without SonicStage? (i.e. by having the player recognized as a regular USB storage device)

Doesn't look like you can play any type of file without going through SonicStage. You can transfer files there thru explorer (or whatever), and you can see them in the MD's file listing, but you can't play them thru the MD.

Which is what I expected, but still a shame since I tried to be optimistic but it was immediately obvious why everyone hates the SonicStage application. I can accept that Sony is going to force us to use some kind of system that enforces security/DRM/etc (even if I don't like it), but with this app it's like they went out of their way to make it a hassle to use. My audio files are all perfectly organized on my HD but it takes forever to do anything in SS...

can i ask you one more question?

in some document i read, i read that sonicstage would put the mp3s on the disk as mp3... not as one big file. is this true?

If they are seperate mp3s, can you execute them directly from the minidisc from explorer? Im asking this read that mp3s dragged onto your HD will be unplayable.. but they didnt say anything about playing direct from the player's removable disk using ie: winamp.

thx for your response smile.gif

I'm sure it's going to allow that as good as any other regular storage device (after all Winamp is responsible for playing the files .. not the MD player). To the player the files are just going to be regular data.

This is a sad day. I actually thought the guys at Sony could've changed their minds .. thinking more about their customer's demands than their own. Pathetic.

On this Picture http://www.minidisc.org/images/Sony_MZRH10.jpg you can read the words 'line out' at the headphone jack.

But I still wonder if you can create a Disc which can be played back at an older MD or if you only can't record in this mode.

Because on the Japanese Sony Site is only said that you cannot record in Net MD mode via optical, line, mic.

for the line-out issue, i assume that you have to unplug the remote, otherwise the option "line out" in the output menu won´t show up, because it´s the same way with 1rst gen units.

sad to hear about the digi-amp thing, it´s odd that they did that. i would really like to know for what reason.
