Syrius
Well, so I win this NHF 800 off ebay for 100 bucks, sans remote. I have been playing with it all the afternoon and part of the night trying all sorts of weird stuff, like copying from CD's, computer, game systems, uploading, downloading, transferring data, you name it. Then I uploaded some tracks... one by one, then in batches of four...(SUSPENSE )and all went through smoothly! Enter Hi-MD renderer. Now I can do whatever I damn well please with the spanish/english classes my brother had recorded. Download, burn, compress, decompress, edit, split, combine... Woot! What am I trying to say here? Marcnet, your Hi-MD Renderer is pure liquid gold, man. I am grateful, and happy to forward a donation soon. It is because of all I can do with it that I decided to get a Hi-MD unit. Your effort has not gone unnoticed in my household. Thanks.

Syrius
Day 2. I copied some music into Atrac3+ @256 via the input and uploaded it. 2 hours of music uploaded in just 7 minutes! Ran Hi-MD renderer and converted it into high bitrate MP3. OMG. I can't wait to copy music straight from my Dreamcast and upload it as PCM. Sony has gotten their act together with SS 3.0 (Only problem I had was a read error due to a bad disc, but no trashed uploads whatsoever, and no lost tracks either.) and Hi-MD Renderer is more icing on an already-yummy cake.(yeah, I know. I'll shut up now.)w00t!
matrulesok
The only "problem" I've had so far is the slowness and poor library handling skills of sonicstage. I have a fairly decent pc, 2.4 Ghz Athlon, 512mb ram etc and it takes ages to do anything with the library (e.g. opening 1 artist's albums). It is bearable, but would it be better just to import the files to the library as i need them, then remove them from the library? I dont see how somthing like winamp can be so much more responsive!p.s. since this is my first hi-md, i am not entirely upto date on the atrac situation, I take it there is no chance of anyone writing a plugin for winamp or windows media player or xmms(linux) that allows them to even play atrac. Thanks for any info! Christopher
There's something wrong with your installation, that's definitely not normal preformance. I would post in the Software forum about this, matrulesok, and see if we can help you fix it.Syrius: Your experience is essentially how things have been for me since I started Hi-MD, and I have no doubt that those who lurk here and most of the members have had a carefree experience as well. The internet and this message board are always ripe with complaints because we're the only people who hear them out - whereas people don't run marathons to come say when they are happy with things. So, good for you.
MusicBringer
Thank you for your post Syrius, it gives a newbie like me encouragement to have a go myself. Knowing there are folk such as you and kurisu around to help out.To use my new NH900, you'll be glad to hear that I have successfully installed both sonicstage 2.3 (I didn't use the 2.1 version that came on the CD) and simple burner 2.00.04. Not only that I got 'em to work first time. Filled a Gig himd with my favourite stuff, and tried burning a CD (The Free Story) to a standard minidisc. It worked, thanks to the guidance you give me at this forum
