Question

Just another discontinue Sony product.

Well, I remember see this in a promotion booklet that Sony sent to my house, back in 2002.

This babe has got the ability to play many DVD formats while still in around the standard size of a portable CD player!

...and it has a seperate 3.5"LCD to view the content if you play DVD. Enough teasing, but I'll try to find out more about this player.

Anyone here has any info on it?

Thanks! :ol_biggrin:

What exactly is that removable cover like thing which that player is inserted in?

That is its LIP-30 lithium ion rechargeable battery.

Can it play DTS when listening through heaphone?

I don't believe you can. DTS only works with Optical Digital Out. If there is any consolation, the D-VM1 offers the two sound modes to enjoy your DVD with your headphone via Virtual Surround - 1) V-SUR1 for inner-ear headphones and 2) V-SUR2 for open-air headphone such as the MDR-F1. Option 2 allows Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital 5.1-channel.

this wasnt a dvd 'walkman' but it was a dvd player and cd writer i think, it was basically a portable cd/dvd rom drive, that looked like a cd walkman, It featured the rm-mc11el. ring any bells?

:ol_fatpleased: here it is: model: MPD-AP20U

it had a usb connector for connecting to a pc, but worked as an mp3 player etc:

Mmm, I remember that unit. I never got around to getting it though, so I'm afraid it'll remain "undiscovered."

It looks very interesting though, and it has the ability to play WAV and MP3 files off of a burned DVD... To bad there won't be any follow ups by anyone in this regard however.

Oh yes! I forgot about this (old) thing (with poor battery life). It was the only walkman-sized device to play MP3s of a DVD-R! I wonder how much they want for it now and if it's even worth getting. How's navigation of directories on this?

One & only "DVD" walkman ever released by sony till date.

=Definately ,I would like see further description/specification of D-VM1.

True in the very strict literal sense of the term "DVD Walkman" but you guys are forgetting 1998's "DVD Discman", the very first DVD Discman by Sony, the PBD-V30...

http://www.movie-mania.dk/Hardware/Sony/PBDV30.htm

http://www.homecinemachoice.com/reviews/hc...SonyPBD-V30.php

Since Sony stopped using the Discman name in favour of "CD [or DVD in this case] Walkman" and since the PBD-V30 is the same product type, there have been more than one of these made by Sony :P
