The Low Volta
Hi, can anyone recommend a pair of reasonably priced earphones for use with a remote. ie short cable?←not exactly what you asked, but I use the Sennheiser MX450's, they are very reasonably priced ($15), sound quite good and have a 1m cable... just store the cable between the recorder and the remote in the MD-pouch, clip the remote to your pouch or belt and voila, works like a charm...greetings, Volta
pata2001
Hi, can anyone recommend a pair of reasonably priced earphones for use with a remote. ie short cable?←Where are you at? And are you willing to import or not? If you're in the US, locally, you're choice is limited, only the Sony EX71SL (can be found online around $30). If you're willing to import, check audiocubes. Most Japanese version of earphones/headphones have short cables. My fav is Sony ED31SL. Careful, there are fakes out there.
subaru1198
ok, thanks. i live in the uk by the way, so how much do you reckon it would be to post out to me?
Ishiyoshi
ok, thanks. i live in the uk by the way, so how much do you reckon it would be to post out to me?←If you acquire the MDR-EX71SL thru AudioCubes, it will cost you about USD$59 inclusive of shipping fees to the UK. Currently, there are a few sellers by eBay with decent prices. Try this one - approximately USD$40 inclusive of shipping to the UK.
saaron
You can get EX71s through Argos, Littlewoods, etc. quite easily for like £23. Might be worth checking at your local Sony/Panasonic shop as well.
subaru1198
OK, thanks. Are the EX71s the only 'phones that people know of with a short cable for remotes?
Ishiyoshi
If you like Sony, there's the E888SP and EX81SL to consider. But I am sure there's other alternative as well.
atrain
if you are willing to buy online there's sony, sharp, panasonic, jvc, audiotechnica... the list is enormous.take a look at www.audiocubes.com for headphone choices. my advic`e would be to purchase them locally or else where on the net as the pricing structure there is a little high imo. saaron
Like atrain said, check the net for other etailers as well. I would check the minidisc.org page for UK and German-based etailers to save on postage costs. Amazon.co.uk electronics pages might be good as well and there's always ebay.co.uk. Tiesto
Hi, can anyone recommend a pair of reasonably priced earphones for use with a remote. ie short cable?←I'd say the Panasonic RP-HJE50 earbuds... I dont try them myself, some people say they are clones of Sony ex71 earbuds, but with less bass than the Sony's and cheaper (~us$20 amazon, etronics). Silvadragon
MDR-888SPs all the way! oops, they're pretty expensive...
subaru1198
ok, thanks for all your replies, but are clones of the EX71's the only other earhpones with short cables?
atrain
again, have a look at http://www.audiocubes.com & have a look at the headphone section. you don't have to buy from them but they have a very wide range.i can repeat it again if you like
sony_man
OK, thanks. Are the EX71s the only 'phones that people know of with a short cable for remotes?←no there are more sony products out there with shortened cords. like th eeggos. but would look weird in public. sony Q55 model, thats the solid version, there is also liquid and wind or something. but dont get those. fitting is poor which leads to poor SQ and bass. plus they are WAY too heavy for clip ons. plus if you dont mind winding the cord or trying cord mod your self, get a pair of koss 35's. look cheap but pump good sound. especially amped.
