Having just bought an NW-A3000, I looked at the Remote Control that Sony is releasing for it and wasn't impressed. Having had minidisc players up to now with decent LCD remotes, I felt Sony's A Series remote was a little lacking .
In a bid to find suitable remotes with more features, I've now tested 3 LCD remotes from minidisc players, and can offer the following info if you're considering purchasing a remote control for your A Series player:
RM-NWS1 - the A Series remote: (see other topics) non-LCD that does Track +/-, Play/Stop & Volume +/- & Hold, and that's about it.
RM-MC11EL: 1 line LCD remote with backlight that has all the RM-NWS1 buttons + Play Mode (shuffle, repeat, repeat 1 song, etc), Sound (change EQ modes), Display (toggle track length, position) & Stop. The LCD shows Battery meter, Playing symbol, Track number, Track length, Track position, Volume bar, EQ mode & Play Mode symbols. When pressing 'play mode' the words 'huffle', 'Repeat', '1 Song', & 'Normal' are displayed as they changed. NB: The only things that don't work as they would on a minidisc player are that it sometimes takes several button presses to wake up the LCD display (always appears when changing tracks though), and the track/artist name isn't displayed.
RM-MC33EL: 1 line LCD remote with backlight that has all the RM-MC11EL buttons and functions + Folder +/- buttons. I haven't figured these out yet, but they seem to skip either 1 or a random number songs.
RM-MC40ELK: 3 line LCD remote with backlight. It works pretty much the same as the MC11EL but can display track, album and artist names. It also has a jog dial on the front but it doesn't seem to do anything on the A series.

For more info on most of the LCD remotes Sony have released, take a look here: MDCF's Sony LCD Remotes and our very own A Guide to Sony Network WALKMAN & Discman Remotes
I hope this helps
