Mr_Bass_Man
OK, so the latest version of SS is slightly better than previous ones, in most peoples' opinion, but what about all the other stuff you do with MDs apart from transferring files?I am thinking of (for example) track editing, splitting, combining, etc.It all seems kind of fundamental to me, so how come the software/hardware people haven't implemented it?After all, if you can do it from the buttons on the recorder, or from the remote control, in the case of the decks, then why on earth not from the PC via the USB?Back to what SS is supposed to do, today I had it fail to create a WAV file from one transferred from my NH900 to my PC (a track recorded via the analogue line in).I eventually had to record it again, the second transferred file worked fine.Grrrr .....I'm pretty convinced that if Sony had come up with a better program, more MD units would have been sold, and I also very much doubt if they hadn't been so hung up about SCMS/DRM that not all that many fewer CDs would have been sold (but yet more MD units would have!) The Low Volta
I am thinking of (for example) track editing, splitting, combining, etc.I do not know whether you have checked it... but SS does allow combining splitting tracks [attachmentid=722]that is actually quintessential to the one and only safe method of obtaining gapless CD's from trackmarked recordings (explained here)
Sparky191
I didn't realise this myself. I just used a freeware app called media joiner to do the same thing. DOH!
Syrius
Just make sure you keep a backup of the original files in case SS hiccups and corrupts those files, though it's really hard that it happens now that it's much more stable. The Low Volta
@ leon...no probs, all units that use one version of SS can use all I believe... so just upgrade to SS3.2 (if your PC can handle it...but that shouldn't be a real problem) and discover the world of ripping CD's to SS without DRM! KJ_Palmer
Yes, that's right. I have Hi-MD and NetMD units and they all work fine with the latest software (SS3.2 and MD Simpleburner 2.0). Of course you wont benefit so much from a NetMD unit than with Hi-MD, particularly 2nd generation...

Sparky191
What version is that. I can't see that option in 3.2My edit menu looks different. I do not know whether you have checked it... but SS does allow combining splitting tracks [attachmentid=722]that is actually quintessential to the one and only safe method of obtaining gapless CD's from trackmarked recordings (explained here)←

The Low Volta
@ Sparky191:it is the first English 3.2 version that appeared on these forums@ Mr_Bass_Man:I actually only use SS ever to combine, then I convert the total to wav and edit in audacity if I need to
