SonyHiMD
While checking prices for the MZ-RH10, I've come upon two different display types/colors. The unit pictured at sonystyle.com, for example, has what appears to be a standard LCD display.......while the unit at retailers like minidisco.com appears to have a blue display. Minidisco.com refers to this as an "Organic EL" Display.I also noticed that the LCD display version appears to have a silver body, while the version with the Organic EL display has a black body. I haven't found any information about different variations/model numbers, and both of these units appear to have the same model number, so I'm a little confused as to how distinguish between the two when ordering. Also, any comments on pros or cons of the LCD version vs. the Organic EL version would be appreciated. Thanks!
atrain
all of the RH10s have the organicEL display the japanese model has an lcd remote & cradle though were the US version has a non-lcd remote & no stand.
SonyHiMD
Thanks for the reply, but I'm still unsure of whether the standard US version is the silver version or the black version, and if the US version(s) have the black on gray display (as shown in the photo of the silver unit) or a blue on black display (as shonw in the photo of the black unit). Ishiyoshi
@ SonyHiMD: please use the search utility for further information regarding the RH10. The US RH10 only comes in black and both the pictures above are identical - the slight color difference is due to lightning.
SonyHiMD
Now that I think about it, I can see where the top photo in my original post could show the same player as the bottom photo. I guess it's just the light reflecting off of the top photo that makes it look silver, however the displays still do look somewhat different to me. Either way, I'll search through the forums for more info. Thanks!

However, having bought my RH10 from minidisco (thus it's a North American model) I can say with confidence that the display would look like your second picture.peaceWaywardTraveller

Difference being as others suggested that Japanese version has colour-coded RM-MC38ELK Lcd, Kanji-capable remote (matches colour of main unit) and a charging stand. All other (euro / us versions) don't. But all have organic LED.
Christopher
Good topic. Coincidentally, I saw the same RH10 the other day at Sony Style and was also very confused as to why they would display such an unflattering picture of the RH10. It is quite obvious the font is different between the two units, and furthermore, the RH10 in the first picture seems to have a LCD instead of an OLED. This picture is obviously some sort of mockup pre-production shot. I also noticed that the record button isn't even red.

The top photo looks like it is showing the protective plastic film with a pre-printed display that comes affixed to the unit when you first take it out the box. It protects the screen from scrathces ehile in the box. If you've got a RH10 in the post winging it's way to you, be careful when you peel the thing off.(It looks like it's from the ND3 HDD walkman but I digress.) MZ-1
Who knows what the top unit is....Notice that the layout of the screen items on the "LCD" unit is different than the layout of the OLED unit.I noticed that picture at Sony Style a while ago and wrote Sony about it. The OLED is a *huge* selling point. Received no reply. In any event (as an RH10 owner), the USA RH10 comes as seen in the second photo (except for the Japanese characters!)Paul
AMPlitude
lighting is definitely the culprit here
