Chiron
why on earth do you want to break it??!!←My guess is that he wants to return it while it is still under warranty and upgrade to another model?
Richard
My guess is that he wants to return it while it is still under warranty and upgrade to another model?←That's lame... if you're that desperate to upgrade, sell it & use the money towards another model. I'd never break a unit on purpose. Edited September 6, 2005 by richyhu
The Low Volta
a real undetectable way? just use extensively, day in day out, till it just stops (probably in about three to five years time) then buy the most recent decent model around...please don't ask such questions on a forum full of MD-loving ppl, I (like many other ppl here) treat my player with much respect and will never damage it on purpose... you want a new one, save for it, do not misuse Sony's trust, as it is already difficult enough to find consumer electronics with good warranty! The Low Volta
i own a mac and even under virtualpc using sonicstage, this thing is useless to me. i found some good ideas elsewhere but id like to thank everyone anyways...sorry man, but not reading the specs before you buy and then being stuck with a machine you can't use is not a sufficient reason to deliberately go breaking stuff to get a refund/change... sell it or give it away but don't trash it

It was Mariah Carrey or something, so that could be it "well, without the Mariah bit of course, but just play dumb and do not mention you went into service mode yourself... it could well be that they repair it under warranty←You're so contradictory. The Low Volta
You're so contradictious. it might seem so indeed... but that guy was trying to get his player fixed, not exchanged
