nickjr
I purchased a NH 900 a while back and did all my research here on this site. Everyone here was really good about helping out. Now my family is planning a road trip and I'd like to be able to play my Himd through the car's system so everyone can hear. What's the best way to do this? raintheory
If you have a cassette deck you could use a cd>cassette adapter. If you have an aux input on the car stereo, you could run a line from your HiMD into that.Or, if all else fails you could purchase an FM transmitter thingy... Which simply broadcasts (short-range) the signal of your HiMD to your car radio.
nickjr
I don't have a cassette deck. Just a CD player.I guess the FM transmitter is the way to go. Would the FM transmitter plugged into the cigarette lighter charge the battery in my MD?
Richard
Would the FM transmitter plugged into the cigarette lighter charge the battery in my MD? The ones I have seen don't. For example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-DCC-FMT3-Car-FM-S...7QQcmdZViewItem Edited September 28, 2005 by richyhu

Pastagaman
Hi, I have bought an Fm transmitter for my RH10 ( Irock 450Fm on ebay ) and I have a very correct sound with it. I plug it on the cigarette ligher to switch on the transmitter (I can put a dry cell too but the autonomy is very short with it) and I plugg the jack on the remote of the Md. (I can take some pictures if you want) It's work very well if you can find a free frequency (88.1 or 88.3 in France).Waou, my first post on the famous MDCF ! (great job by the way ) And sorry for my english...http://cgi.ebay.fr/NEW-iRock-Wireless-FM-T...1QQcmdZViewItem Edited September 28, 2005 by Pastagaman
raintheory
That looks like it should work fine. The reason it plugs into the lighter thing is to power the transmitter, no power would be sent to the HiMD unit (I'm thinking power being sent into the headphone jack may not be too good anyway ).The one I have runs off of 2 AAA batteries, but I use it for other things besides just in-car use. If you are using it strictly to play in a car, that one should work perfectly for you.BTW, does the CD player have an 1/8in (same size as headphone plug) auxilary input on the front anywhere? Andicillo
Cool, That FM transmitter you found on eBay should be perfect then. I bought an FM transmitter (a bellkin) through Amazon.com and I liked it, but personally I am a musician, so all the little FM interferencies made my life a nightmare. I Finally changed my radio and bought an AiwaThis radio plus my NHF800 make the perfect combination and I have kept the transmitter in case I have to send the signal to any other radio... I understand about the interference that sometimes occurs when using the transmitter. I actually have started utilizing that very thing in some of my experimental music... I have up to three separate recordings going simultaneously, each through its own FM transmitter, I then adjust the fine tuning on each to fade in and out from each other. I've had pretty interesting results so far. I'll post some in the gallery soon.My CD player in my car has a line-in so I always use that when listening to MD in the car. leonyuhanov
When i took a road trip in New Zealand with some friends, the rental company gave us a Camper van that whilst beeing in total working order, had a real shitty stereo. I used the little White Belkin FM trasmitter, works on 1Xaaa battery and lasted fro days! Kept us going!!Leon
