NH700 Woes

I'm using Sonicstage 3.3 and Windows XP SP2. I tried to record a Net MD from Sonicstage on my NH700 and none of the tracks would play properly (there were huge gaps), I tried a commercial MD and that played fine.

I tried recording on to a couple of discs and I got the same problem.

Oh yeah, and I was also using 256Kbits Lossless at the time, probably doesn't matter though.

As it appears a pre-master (I think that's what you mean by commercial) plays fine, it sounds like a problem with the magnetic head/system. More than that I can't say. It may be anything from intermittent power to the head to the magnetic head being too far from the disc.

And 256kbps (Hi-SP) is not lossless. PCM is lossless... though it's more correct to refer to it as uncompressed. Lossless is formats like FLAC, *.wv (can't rem the name offhand), and APE, where the file is smaller than a raw file but all the data is still there.

Sorry, I was recording in MD-LP, 132 Kbps. I tried playing back a Net MD I recorded ages ago and had the same problems.

p.s. You can find a load of second-hand commercial MDs on Amazon. I bought Cypress Hill - Black Sunday B) .

Hi-MDs record and play fine though, the old net md I recorded was making nasty clicking and whurring noises. <_<
