chriswyatt
I'm using Sonicstage 3.3 and Windows XP SP2. I tried to record a Net MD from Sonicstage on my NH700 and none of the tracks would play properly (there were huge gaps), I tried a commercial MD and that played fine.I tried recording on to a couple of discs and I got the same problem.Oh yeah, and I was also using 256Kbits Lossless at the time, probably doesn't matter though. Sparky191
I'm confused by what your asking. Whats do you mean by NetMD? What bitrate is that. Also since you can't record directly on a HiMD in lossless, you must mean transferring. Recording and transferring are different. Where on earth did you find a commerical MD? Who is it? rei-gouki
As it appears a pre-master (I think that's what you mean by commercial) plays fine, it sounds like a problem with the magnetic head/system. More than that I can't say. It may be anything from intermittent power to the head to the magnetic head being too far from the disc. And 256kbps (Hi-SP) is not lossless. PCM is lossless... though it's more correct to refer to it as uncompressed. Lossless is formats like FLAC, *.wv (can't rem the name offhand), and APE, where the file is smaller than a raw file but all the data is still there. Sparky191
I prefer seeing clarifications as lists myself... PCM is uncompressed and lossless (Huge file sizes High SQ)ATRAC Lossless is compressed but lossless (large file sizes High SQ)256kps is compressed and lossless and is (med file size med/high SQ)

chriswyatt
Sorry, I was recording in MD-LP, 132 Kbps. I tried playing back a Net MD I recorded ages ago and had the same problems.p.s. You can find a load of second-hand commercial MDs on Amazon. I bought Cypress Hill - Black Sunday .Hi-MDs record and play fine though, the old net md I recorded was making nasty clicking and whurring noises. Sparky191
Reformat the Net MD with the HiMD.
Alexx
PCM is the only lossless in your list.oh don't whine! Its hard for people to come to terms with ATRAC
Sparky191
PCM is the only lossless in your list.PCM is the only lossless you can put on a HiMD. (The new lossless formats in SS 3.3 are on the PC only) Technically you can record in PCM mode. Dunno why I said you couldn't. Lack of sleep probably.
