kruskev
Hi I am fairly new to minidisc recording and was wondering which method of recording would yield the optimal sound quality from a cd. I have heard that optical(?) is the best method but I have no idea how to go about doing this. Can you guys give detailed information on how to record optically and the settings that you need on your soundcard and stuff like that. If there was a simple guide or something it will be very appreciated, thank you.
KrazyIvan
I t would help if you gave us a list of the equipment you already have so we can determine what would work best. Optical recordings are considered to be the best you can get with MD. Edited December 7, 2005 by KrazyIvan

Hombre
I appears that you want to record from you computer. Am I right? If you have a CD/DVD player with optical out and a optical input on your MD unit; then I would record in real time at the Highest bit rate available to you. I prefer Legacy SP myself. I only do this for recordings that are good recordings (Quality and/or Performance) to begin with. MP3's and other music I use Simple Burner or Optical a LP2 for HiLP depending in the situation I goin' to listen my music. I travel alot so I don't want to carry alot of disc so I use HiLP. I does sound pretty good but I would never play it on my home unit. 1(I don't have a player at home that plays HiLP) 2(It sounds weak on a hi-fi system from my player) For party's and background music at home I'll use LP2. In this format is what I make party mixes.Best: So in short for serious home listening Legacy SP (Digital)Better: LP2 Simple Burner (Computer) for Party Mixes and background musicGood: HiLP For (computer transfers) i.e. MP3's and travel mixesOpinions will vary on this but in my experience this is how I see it. I've been using MD for over 11 yrs. I love this format!!!
