"Search" appears on the screen. But I don't like that the only things that works on the simpler remotes (like 33EL) - jump to previous/next group by a press of a button - is so much more complicated on the 40ELK... tommypeters Posted January 3, 2006 Report Share Posted January 3, 2006 Well, the difference when you are on track 2 and want to jump to next group isn't minor. You have to look at the display, scroll past maybe 10 tracks, stop at the group after the last track and then press the jog wheel twice. If I just press it once it brings up a menu consisting of "normal play", "group play", "artist play", etc. The Artist Play function works nice for searching by artist, but I can't find a way to search tracks. KrazyIvan Posted January 5, 2006 Report Share Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) I know what it is. Doh! Why did I not think of it sooner. You are using simple menu mode. You need to change it to advanced. On your unit, hold down the menu button, go to option then select Menu Mode, then select advanced. Try it. It should work after you change that setting. I forget about it since that is something I set when I first get a unit and then never change it. But to change into advanced mode you must have had to go into the menus, by holding down the jog dial on the remote? If you can access the menus via the remote, simply go to Useful => Search. I don't know about rules and regulations in USA, here the seller would have to pay for postage both ways when there's a warranty replacement. Just make sure, together with them, that there's really a problem with the 40ELK and not with the 600D unit, cabling, user error - whatever.
