spy1983 Posted January 11, 2006 Report Share Posted January 11, 2006 (edited) I bought a MZ-NH 900 last week. After that i bought a sony mdr-828lp earphone today. I like the sound of my md but i am just trying to find best sound. I usually use surround studio mode i think it is the best in the modes. When i turn volume up to the end a distortion begins i think. Is there a best sound that i can catch with eq or is there any suggestions or which mode is better in your opinion? And is there a eq setting equal to Sony's Megabass? I have the 828's and they are definitely not much better than stock buds. If you are trying to get the best sound from the NH900 try some better earbuds. The earbuds I use are listed in my sig. I have been happy with both with the exception of fit on the Panasonics. They make my ears hurt. Beleive me, you will not have a hard time trying to adjust for bass on either set. About the earphones: I'm using my nh900 with a pair of Stanton Dj pro 60 headphones. In my opinion , the best headphones for about 40 dollars. You get Sony Eggo's 77s specs for 40 dollars. I prefer customizing the eq. to a u-shape curve, a little lighter at the bass end than the treble since the PX100s are strong on bass. Only downside to them is that they are inefficient compared with other headphones/buds, i.e. they don't get as loud and they let in ambient noise if you are listening in a noisy environment.For that circumstance (like, a trip on the parents' bus to a marching band competition ), I like the Shure E3c with the yellow foamy buds. Sure (no pun intended) to tune out any ambient noise, including a yakkety Spousal Unit. Is there any way to increase the output?A custon eq or virtual surround mode which one is better do you think? When i adjust eq, because of the output power i think the volume is not that much. Plus, they are portable. I agree with this I also use the Stanton Dj Pro 60's with my NH900 (and all my other MD units) they are the best value headphones I ever had. Superb sound with 3-28000hz freq. response means some fierce bass ;-) - they are very durable (have had mine over 2 years, they have been round the world and still in near perfect shape), portable.... The reasons for the volume limitations in Europe are well documented, but essentially it's due to French/EU policy for preventing hearing loss/damage... Also, if you're looking for Sony earbuds that aren't too expensive and have good bass then try the MDR-E931s.
