raintheory
tan(A) = opposite / adjacent = 5 / 12 = ??? Does this sound at all right?I'm assuming you need to get the actual angle though as well... Edited January 23, 2006 by raintheory
greenmachine
tan A = 5/12A = 22.619864947A = 22° 37' 12"
raintheory
I came up with:tan(a) = 0.417 = 24°???
greenmachine
I came up with:tan(a) = 0.417 = 24°???Why 24?
raintheory
I thought 1° = tan 0.0174 0.0174 x 24 = 0.417EDIT: I could be way off, it's been a long time since I've done any of this stuff. BIG EDIT: I goofed, you were right GreenMachine, that's what I get for not having a calculator handy... lol Although I can show the work for either answer. smkranz
Man, that was some funny shit to read. Trig made a whole lotta sense to me at the time, but since then I've about lost it all. Best I could come up with was A(squared)+B(squared)= C(squared).I'm soooo glad my kiddies are going into music.
streaml1ne
Now that you have the answer what's the top angle? And for that matter the hypotenuse. Learn how things relate, don't just memorize the formulas.
