danielbb90
When could we have cheaper 1giga discs?discs of 75 and 80 min. have been producted by cheaper manufacturers like tdk,or unknown makers. So why not making cheaper 1g discs? And why the price of others discs haven't low?Sorry for my english!I think the main reason for this is profet.1. Other companies wouldn't make Hi-MD discs because they don't feel its in there intrest to. (Is Hi-MD got more popular the probably would).2. Maby sony can't make them cheeper so they have to sell them for a prophet! (It would be nice if they did make them cheeper) But it still is the cheepest storage to price ratio around! The other minidisc have been around for a long time now (1992 ish) So the prices were bound to drop. But remember they arn't really that big! bwils
I recently bought 80min disks in a shop here in Belgium for 1eur a piece (less then a dollar). Their not from a "known brand" but they work just as fine and look OK. check the link for more info:http://www.zwab.net/disk_minidisk_cid_7_8.html
jonny mac
There were times when 74's were $5 apiece and nobody even dreamed about 80's...Really!?!?!? Wow, that's expensive! I doubt that the 1GB discs will ever come down in price, in fact I've noticed in the last 6 months that prices are increasing. This is simply due to economies of scale: there aren't enough of them sold to bring the price down. Think of it this way: it's no cheaper than replacing the HDD on an MP3 player when it fails after a few months.

dex Otaku
If only they sold them at that price in canada! No kidding. The cheapest I can find them locally [coincidentally from the only place that sells them locally] is $12.99CAD each, over 4x what they are in Australia. Top Cat
News just in: All 1GB discs are sold out here in Kiev, Ukraine (I suspect I could tell "in the whole Ukraine"...)They were available through only one electronics supermarket network. Nobody even looked at them for about 3 months they were on shelves (were $9 apiece) and now they've suddenly disappeared from all stores. Was a bit of a disappointment as I was heading to a jazz festival and was hoping to pick up an additional Hi-MD to record in PCM. Had to record half the event in Hi-SP on an 80 min disc instead
Ral-Clan
There were times when 74's were $5 apiece and nobody even dreamed about 80's...74 and 80 min disc are STILL about $4.50 to $5 each in Canada at major chain stores (when you can even find them). This is when you buy in a 2 pack. It's really awful. No wonder Minidisc never took off here.,
