splumer
Last summer I had my Sharp MT-15 in the car, planning to record the Dave Matthews Band show in Hershey. During the day we were at the Penn. Renaissance Faire, and I left my MD in the trunk of my car during a pretty hot day (June 25). When I set up to record the show that evening, I received the dreaded UTOC error. Was it caused by the heat, and is it repairable? I was heartbroken because it's always been so reliable for me and has never given me any grief.
mercury_in_flames
i doubt its repairable, and more to the point if it is, is it worth it to repair. It would cost you half the price of a new md unit to repair your md most likely.
Skradgee
I haven't baked an MD deck, but I fried one once with reversed polarity through the AC in. I was bummed out...it was difficult to say goodbye to that machine, but I've moved on. Get a Hi-MD portable, or look around online for a replacement Sharp model. Either option should not be too expensive.

greenmachine
If you're lucky, it's just the disc. Try a different (not baked) one.
