souwalker
HiThe sony MZ-NH600 & 700 HI Md Redorder/Player is selling for about A$99 and $149 repectively. This is cheap considering the RRP is about $399. whya re they selling them so cheap?I am looking for a HI-MD recorder/player to record our band's rehearsals/ gigs via the line input. I understand with HI-MD's, there is a software that would allow me to convert recordings to wav and transfer to pc? Does this software comes bundled with these 2 models? Are the bundled software latest version as I read older version has some limitations? Many ThanksPat

blazer78
They're selling them cheap because they need to get rid of excess MD stock. Hardly anyone in Australia wants MD technology, (i see ipod armies everyday T_T), so companies sell MD's cheap to get rid of the stock. For recording, I'd have to go with the NH700. RobA
If you only need line input, by all means save money and get the nh600. But I feel the 700 will give you an all around better experience with the easier to use jog dial and mic input there if you need it.

But I feel the 700 will give you an all around better experience with the easier to use jog dial and mic input there if you need it.As RobA says the NH700 is a much nicer unit than the NH600 particularly the jog dial. Plus the added versatility of a mic input. They both come with old versions of SonicStage so you will need to upgrade to a later version such as SS3.4 or SSCP from the forum downloads section or the SonyAsia Pacific support site. Minidisc Australia also has a link to the Sony WaveConverter Tool. http://sonyelectronics.sonystyle.com/walkmanmc/wav.htmlI think you need to record in HiMD mode to be able to upload to the PC"Use is presently limited to audio data that has been recorded on "Hi-MD" in PCM mode and uploaded to a computer.-about 1hr&34 mins on a 1GB disc" Minidisc Australia also includes a Bonus pack with rechagable batteries and charger, a carrying pouch and some regular Minidiscs. I think the unit comes with one 1GB Hi-MD disc so you may need to order a box or two of them as well. If you order three items then shipping is free. http://www.minidisc.com.au/default.php?cPath=1_47

The Line out from the mixer to the line in of the MD player. Then I would want to transfer to my pc into wav format. With wav format, I can convert ot mp3 for easy distriution or burn to cd in wav format. Where can I go to, to get more details of what format is recording required to upload to pc? This is the only purpose of getting the md player.Rgds & Thankspat
Zathura
The reason why Minidisc.org have so many minidiscs is because Sony offered them an amazing price to buy a heap of them.
