forgotmysocks
Just got the RH 1 and read through the manual, which kind of explains how to enter track titles (I managed to do it somehow). But how to enter group names and artist? I think I tried pressing all the buttons, twisting the volume control on the remote, etc in all sorts of random combinations. I'm new to the MD format and the machinery, which I think I'm going to like a lot once I get the hang of it.Thanks
The Low Volta
tip: just use the computer to title tracks/groups etc. much easier!

forgotmysocks
Well, using a keyboard would be faster if I had one with me, and thanks for the tip, but I'd still like to be able to do it on those occasions when carrying a computer would not be desireable, such as on a trip somewhere. Also, I'd just like to try it out for fun, to learn more about the machine, and then see if it would be useful to me in practice.
Hungerdunger
I haven't got my RH1 with me, but I've looked at the manual (at http://minidisc.amulation.com/manuals/sony...ser_manual.pdf), and on Page 57 and 58 you'll see what appear to be fairly straightforward instructions. I'll try it when I get home.
bogon07
tip: just use the computer to title tracks/groups etc. much easier!Really good advice. It is much faster and also saves wear on your MD unit's buttons.I'm sure using the unit for titling was what caused the buttons on my old MZ505 to malfunction and these functions now have to be accessed via a remote. forgotmysocks
Really good advice. It is much faster and also saves wear on your MD unit's buttons.I'm sure using the unit for titling was what caused the buttons on my old MZ505 to malfunction and these functions now have to be accessed via a remote. I must not understand something basic. I have this notion that I could set up groups by entering a titles for them in advance, then add tracks to the groups without having to name each track's group name again, just the track titles. So if I wanted to record a bunch of something or other, they'd all be together in a prenamed group, and later, when I get to another type of sound to record, I'd simply fill tracks to that group, and so on. That seems like such a more organized way to work than trying to remember which group number has which category of recording in it, then go through a laborious ordeal of adding group names and track titles later on, sorting them all out, even on a computer. If there was a way to set up a structure in the computer that could be downloaded onto a disk that I want to record to, that of course would do away with all the button-pushing on the remote. But I don't know at all how to do that. Maybe I don't need to do it anyway, since I could just do what I used to do before my cassette recorder finally gave up the ghost (pencil and paper). Any suggestions, opinions, comments etc. are welcome. It's all part of the fun of learning.
