emeijaard
I bought a MZ-N910 minidisk recorder in Singapore to record bird calls and I am now trying to get these unto my laptop. I was advised to use the wav converter tool, for which I had to update Sonic Stage 1.5 to a newer version. I uploaded Sonic Stage 4.0 and also the Wav Converter Tool, but when I try to start the converter tool it tells me that "You mush have sonic stage 2.1 of better installed to run this program. Install now?". Why does it not recognize the Sonic Stage 4.0 software which works fine, recognize the minidisk recorder and shows recorded tracks?Any suggestions would be very welcome. Richard
Hi there - the WAV convertor became obsolete with Sonic Stage 3.x onwards as you now have the same functionality in the core SS application - the ability to converted tracks recorded in Atrac on your unit to WAV when uploading. greenmachine
Are you using a N910 or RH910? N models are downloaders only, you won't be able to upload via usb connection.http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7070
emeijaard
Thanks Rich,So you can simply transfer recordings from the minidisc to a computer through sonic stage's transfer function, right? I tried this but I still got the message : "Unable to transfer the following tracks to My Library because they are recorded by Net MD or another computer."In the import settings of the advanced transfer settings I had specified that the files should be saved in WAV format, but apparently this still didn't work.ErikHi there - the WAV convertor became obsolete with Sonic Stage 3.x onwards as you now have the same functionality in the core SS application - the ability to converted tracks recorded in Atrac on your unit to WAV when uploading.I am using N910. Does that mean that I am stuck with my recordings?ErikAre you using a N910 or RH910? Richard
Hi Dif - sorry perhaps I was not entirely clear - the upload to WAV in SS ((like the Wav Convertor before it) is only really for Hi-MD tracks like Greenmachine says - unless you have the newer RH1 model which to date is the only model which can upload legacy recordings. emeijaard
Thanks again. So there is not software solution to this. Unless I buy a new recorder, I cannot get my bird calls recorded with a microphone onto a computer, right? That is annoying to say the least.Hi Dif - sorry perhaps I was not entirely clear - the upload to WAV in SS ((like the Wav Convertor before it) is only really for Hi-MD tracks like Greenmachine says - unless you have the newer RH1 model which to date is the only model which can upload legacy recordings. The Low Volta
well, you're 'stuck with them on MD' only in as far as there is no USB-transfer possible... you can still 'transfer' them in the old trusted way (like everyone did before HiMD was invented) but it is more realtime rerecording than transfering actuallystill, this should get your recordings on PC without the need for a new MD
emeijaard
Hi Low Volta,That's gotta be the way then. Not sure where to find the sound car input (not mic) but will work that out. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully those Borneo birds will now be able to sing there songs outside the confines of the MD.Cheers,Erikwell, you're 'stuck with them on MD' only in as far as there is no USB-transfer possible... you can still 'transfer' them in the old trusted way (like everyone did before HiMD was invented) but it is more realtime rerecording than transfering actuallystill, this should get your recordings on PC without the need for a new MD
The Low Volta
you're welcome dif, be sure to post a bit of the birds singing to the live recording gallery when transfer is done... I bet there are a lot of ppl here interested in what Borneo birds are like by the way, welcome to MDCF... this forum is a great source of MD-info... stick around, read a bit and perhaps once you learn more about HiMD (including the pretty low price of some of the models ) you might want to upgrade your recorder...
