sector001
i know this has probably been asked, but i recently bought the NH900 and i love the HD amp. and i also bought some GP battery charger and gumsticks from budgetbatteries.com for like $30 for two gumsticks and the charger.it doesn't seem like they last long. when i got them on Friday, i charged them. and didnt used my NH900 till tonite. i am already charging one of the gumsticks. the gumsticks have 1450mah charge....so my question is, does the HD Digital amp suck up the battery life?has anyone had any experience with the GP batteries and the NH900? i'm really disappointed with the battery life of the NH900 are there any better gumsticks out there? The Low Volta
with NiMH batteries it takes a couple of full cycles (full charge, full discharge) till they actually run at their intended capacity so give it a go as I used a 1450mAh GP-stick in my NH900 and I got good results with it (well, better than the stock battery at least)

Atrac3
My NH900 battery (NW10) has a brief life since I have had it uncharged for too time...So, I did buy a more powerful battery replacement (NW14) and it seemed OK (more long operational time) but unluckily, like I did write already the new battery is blocked inside my MZ-NH900 since I have not an external battery charger (it ssems that this is a rare item to find and buy altough it's very useful...). Atrac3
I mean I cannot remove it from my Mz-NH900 ever... since probably the high temperature during the charge have fixed it inside my MD unit...My unit works fine again and the battery works fine too (I can recharge it in the MD unit without problem) but the battery is blocked inside the battery's space in my NH900.However, this seems a known problem with NH900 since other users in this forum have reported a similar trouble :-((

I almost destroyed my unit removing the battery (I definitely destroyed the battery). It will no longer charge using the cradle, but it will charge using the AC adapter. Richard
I thought I recalled the battery expansion seemed to be mainly be an issue with dodgy batteries bought from ebay as opopsed to genuine ones...I've never had any issues charging the Sony NH-14WM in my NH900. Admittedly I don't use it that often anymore...

jaylen
How about these as an alternative? Mashimaro gumsticks that were reviewed sometime ago and said to last longer (of course, this is user-dependent) than the regular gumsticks. I've seen them run under $30 including shipping. Plus, they're awfully cute.http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9831

jaylen
are these available anywhere? Click on the thread that I linked. Might give you some clues on where to buy or who to ask. But, me, I have no idea where to buy.

Admittedly I don't use it that often anymore...Mine was a legitimate Sony battery purchased from Minidisco. I assumed that it was because I left it in the cradle after it was done charging (that was the opinion of someone on this board) - which to me is a design flaw. When it's done charging - it should be done. It is kind of unrealistic to expect a consumer to constantly monitor a unit to see if it still says "charging" or whatever. But whatever - I can still use the original batter that came with it, and I don't use it much as a player anymore anyway. I mostly use it to record, and when I do that, I use AC power.
