Karmageddon
Can this be done easily? Is there a tutorial for this I missed somewhere?cis I really don't wanna go thru the hassle of backing up the library, then uninstalling 3.4 (when it works just fine) then re-installing of the CDROM that came with my RH1...sorry if I appear to be clueless on this one...I have noticed that my speeds are fairly slow, when I have read here that it should be quite a bit faster now.... Ishiyoshi
If I am not mistaken, you will need to update your existing SonicStage 3.4 with the bundled version (3.4.02.14030) to utilize exclusive features of the RH1.For your reference, the location of the RH1 Driver within its bundled CD-ROM: x:\Device\Driver\pa
Karmageddon
Well is there a way to "upgrade" or "update" SS 3.4 to the 3.4 that came with the RH1 WITHOUT having to uninstall the old 3.4?I have well over 40 GBs in my library and nowhere to back it up to at the moment. Ishiyoshi
I don't believe there's any other easier way to upgrade without uninstalling the older version. One thing you could try is to manually install the required modules within the bundled CD-ROM. But that is not advisable. If someone knows of a simple method, please do chime in.In any case, if your ATRAC library does not consist of DRM tunes, you do not really need to use SonicStage Backup Tool. An upgrade of SonicStage will be safe. I have my entire ATRAC library (approx. 100GB) in an external enclosure and I can assure you that it's still intact upon every upgrade. Karmageddon
So then...When I uninstall this 3.4 and put on the RH1's 3.4, will it search for my old database with all the artwork, etc? Or do I have to re-import every "album" again seperatley?
Richard
Like Ishii says you should be able to upgrade no issue without re-importing anything. I have done this from version 2.1 to 4.0 without ever backing up the library. You don't need to uninstall the current version just do an in-place upgrade. I ought to clarify that you do not need to perform a manual uninstallation of your existing SonicStage 3.4. As Richard indicates, uninstallation will be initiated during the upgrade using the MZ-RH1's bundled SonicStage 3.4.02.14030. Good luck and report back if you encounter any issues. Karmageddon
Well it worked. I did not do an uninstall, just an "update" and now my transfer speeds are blazing fast (well fast for Hi-MD anyways) and yea, I am a happy-pappy now ;-)I was just worried (knowing how SS has been in the past) that I would lose my 2 months of ripping/encoding of 600-700 CDs....But yes, for anyone else with the same problem as me, just insert your MZ-RH1 SS 3.4 CDROM and install and everything will work fine. I didn't have to re-import my library or search for it. It automaticly came up and all my settings were also there.Me=happy.Thanks guys
The Low Volta
well, sometimes even SS just works... I updated (without manually uninstalling) from 2.0 -> 4.0 (with every step in between) and I have never had any problem at allthen I reinstalled my PC (XP-pro instead of home) and again, installed 4.0 (without previous versions) and no problem whatsoeverbut then again... I am now experiencing probs with the mac software (or with my MP3's) but that is a different story
