principito
Hello everybody,I hope you can help me. I have formated my computer and now I cannot reproduce all the files I have recorded with my minidisc mz rh910 for 2 years. I have all the recorded files in an external hard drive but when I try to reproduce them the Sonic Stage tells me the following:Sonic Stage (00002460-2100)The file can not be transfered because it cannot be found its license informationTo obtain more information get in contact with the original source of this track.(000084e0)I have talked with SONY and what they tell me is that I should have made a full copy of the program before formating and that now to get the license of the tracks I recorded is not possible.I am wondering if still I can reproduce the files by some way. I am sure that is possible to make the files work again. Please, help me.There is a lot of important staff for my research project, more than 100 hours of recordings.Thank you very much.principito

RoGeR
Hi there... sorry to say, there is no direct way. Sonicstage requires you to perform a backup using its own backup tool before you had reformatted your drive. I transferred all my music which sat on an external hard drive successfully to work on my new laptop using the backup tool so no complains for me. raintheory
Currently there is no way to retrieve the "license" for your own recordings. Why SONY decided that your live recordings should be wrapped in DRM is beyond any of us...It may be worth holding onto the files in case a method arises in the future. From here on out, follow this method to remove DRM from your new recordings so you don't run into this situation in the future: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=16088

Now I can't open my analog recording (mostly LPs) anymore.I might have the possibility to start the old HDD again for some seconds, does anybody know if there is a file or something else I could replace on the new SonicStage installation to recover my license? kino170878
I really hope Sony are warning their customers to always back up via the correct method. Why is this vital information not getting through?
raintheory
I really hope Sony are warning their customers to always back up via the correct method. Why is this vital information not getting through? This really is a great example of why it pays to research the product you are buying. Also a good example of why DRM is nonsense, especially on your own recordings.
