podmed2
Hello Experts: I bought a Sony LAM X1 unit from Japan - and although it's very cool, I am LOST with the Japanese Display! Anyone know how to get this unit to English? Thanks!!!

bobzilli
Can't help with your problem but I'd love to know how it sounds and where you found it
podmed2
Thanks to those who have replied so far. I am still in limbo regarding this unit. The design is cool, and low profile. Only 1/8" headphone outs - so I cannot digital out to any secondary components (would be nice to have an optical out!). I have been with MD since the days of the "deck & player bundles" - if you can remember that!Once I get switched over to ENGLISH, will give a better review. The sound is very "tinny" at loud volumes . Sounds nice and warm at lower dB's.Again, thanks for the help! Richard
I had a look at the manual for this unit - http://cgi.sonydrive.jp/pdf_sd/ServiceArea...8031LAM-X1.htmlI may be wrong but as far as I can see there is no english language option as such but some of the functions do appear in english such as setting the clock / play mode etc.. podmed2
Thanks again for everyone's help. I have not gotten away from MD. I had plenty of extra hardware, and sold accordingly. Just acquired too much. There was a misprint with my experience wit the LAM - It sounds warm at low volumes, but as the volume is increased, it becomes tinny. The speakers it comes with are fine for a small office environment - but I could not see using this thing for a party, etc.PS - Good observation Mr. Wizard. Avrin
Let's test whatever is left of my Japanese.
Strungup
Yes Avrin is basically correct (Good job dude) On Page 39 of the manual (Download it so you can see) at the bottom section it refers to "Other Menu" or Option Menu when translated , in that Option menu is the selection for English in the picture above you will see Brackets around the choices in the menu , Redraw them on a piece of paper abit bigger so it is easy to see them , then when your scrolling thru the menu you can easily recognize the parts you need , by playing Matchup. on Page 67 it takes you thru the Process , Option , Language , (Japanese /English) in fact those are the only two choices there are .
