I currently own a MZ-M200 but just bought a brand new silver RH1 as a backup unit for years "down the road" in case my primary unit fails. My M200 is Malaysian-made. Can anyone with an "RH1", preferably silver, confirm country of manufacture? You gotta trust Japanese craftsmanship... my ol' R37 is still kickin strong! thanks

interesting because it seems like a friend of mine who bought the rh1 silver back in japan has a much better build quality,

or so it felt. the case seemed a lot more metallic.

or could just be me.

are you sure the silver ur referring to are not just the domestic units?

I used to be very anal about stuff made in Japan, always preferring it, but it's just become a fact of life a lot of electronic toys are made in other countries. My MZ-S1 is about five years old, and I have other MiM units that are still working fine. Still, my flagship recorders are made in Japan and feel more solid and business-like.

My EH50 is made in China, so Sony spread the manufacturing around quite liberally.......

Camera gear is another story, I find it hard to look at anything but a Japanese-made lens or camera body.
