Problem with Sony MZ-M200 Menu

I just purchased an MZ-M200 recorder and I can't seem to get into the "Menu" options during recording (or playback for that matter).

Here's what I do:

Record -> Hit Pause

Press "Menu" on the recorder to get to the "Record Audio / (Mic) High" option.

After that, according to the manual, I should press the jog dial (i.e. the play button) and be dropped into some different selections. However, this doesn't work. I've also tried it using the remote and it doesn't work.

Has anyone had this problem? Is this a user error?

Are you pressing and holding the menu button? You have to hold it for a coupld of seconds to access the menu system. Otherwise, you are just changing the display.

Selecting any menu item and pressing the PLAY button to confirm it brings you back to the normal display. This is by design. To go to a different menu/item, you have to repeat the whole sequence.
