Error code: 0000601e when attempting to combine tracks

Hi,

I have a Minidisc recorded on a Standard machine several years ago. The recording was in Mono to get double the recording time (the recording is about 2 hours and 10 mins). Track marks were automatically inserted every three minutes.

I now want to make 1 WAV file from the MD. I rip the tracks using an MZ-RH1 and Sonic Stage 4.3 but when I attempt to combine them I get the following message:

Cannot combine the selected tracks because their combined length would exceed the maximum allowed length.

(Error Code: 0000601e)

I know that Sonic Stage converts from Mono to Stereo automatically and this may be the problem as this will create a 1.5GB WAV when an 800MB is sufficent.

Can anybody help?

Do you have sufficient free hard disk space? If you can't get combining with SonicStage working, you could just use it for uploading and use a separate audio editor for combining. Or combine on the unit before uploading. The SonicStage combine can be slow.

Thanks for replying so swiftly.

I have tried the same task on 2 computers, one with 3GB free and the other with 66GB free.

The most important thing to me is that the audio is unbroken and unaltered. Unfortunately combining on the unit would take a long time (there are 47 tracks!).

I have quite a few MD's recorded in this way which is why I am hoping to find a solution with Sonic Stage, but I am fine to try any other software as long as the audio is unbroken (which I thought Sonic Stage could do).

Have you actually followed the procedure to join tracks on the Minidisc player itself? It is kind of hard to find, but for the RH1 it is on page 48.

It works for just about all portable players except when there are restrictions (eg 2 different format tracks, tracks downloaded from PC, etc). Stuff you recorded yourself should not be a problem. The idea is to pause playback at a track mark, and press track mark. This will toggle the track mark, removing it if you are actually at a mark already (if you aren't, it will create one, this dividing the tracks).

I might cheat (if it was me) and use a deck with optical out, since the whole disc gets played in one long stream. I realise you don't have that option, but maybe someone could do that for you.

dude just do it on the unit! push play then pause then the fast forward button then hit the track mark button. this will remove the track mark. then push fast forward again then hit the track mark button again. this will remove the next track mark. keep doing this until all 47 are done. you can do th whole disk in 5 minutes with no problem... easy problem solved!

  • 3 weeks later...

Many thanks to everyone who has replied. I should have mentioned at the beginning that I have a few Thousand MD's, but only an hour or two a week to work on this problem. I will be looking at all of the proposed solutions and hope to make progress soon.
