22 kHz MP3?

Rate this question

crwell

Question

why aren't they supported? right or wrong, it's pretty common in podcasts and the like

anyone think there will be an upgrade with wider mp3 support?

so, i should.. convert to ATRAC, right?

i'm using SonicStage 3.4.. with the offending 22kHz mp3 in my database (and synched to my NW-A608).. when i go to use the converter, it simply tells me nothing needs converting.

i downloaded sony's mp3 to atrac program and it tells me i need to have SonicStage 2.1 or higher. urrr...?

seriously thinking of going back to iRiver

hope someone can figure this one out. is mp3 sample rate conversion possible without re-encoding out to PCM first?

thanks

Welcome to AtracLife!

I`m not sure what you wnat to do ??/

MP3 with 22.1khz sampling frequency are not compatible with A608 .only mp3`s with 44.1 khz are compatible .

thank you

wondering how to convert it to something playable (atrac, or 44khz mp3 as quickly as possible).. i'm gonna have to do this probably quite a few times.. if it's too much trouble i'll probably just return the player

3.4 is higher than 2.1, i thought

For these low res MP3's I usually import into SS and then convert to the nearest Atrac3 / Atrac3+ bitrate (something like 64 or 132 depending on what the original bitrate is)

I think you may be right but I don`t have any of such lower Sampling Frequency Mp3 files so i just suggested what i thought .

bump.

well i did figure out how to convert mp3s to atrac within SS3.4

but anyone know how i get rid of the mp3 from my library without removing the atrac too?

i have to remove it all and get the converted file from the optimized files folder and put it in

anyways this whole thing is silly. low bitrate mp3s (read: PODCASTS) are very often in 22kHz (it doesn't do much good to have low bitrates in 44kHz).. won't Sony support lower samplerates in a firmware upgrade?

by the way, do the harddrive models have the same issue?

i'm liking the (A608) player besides the ridiculous software issues. i just can't imagine how Sony expects to market any of this stuff against iPods if it can't even play the majority of podcasts.

To delete mp3 files from the database,Select the song then go to the properties ->then select FILE INFO ..& select the mp3 file & delete .

You will have to delete each mp3 file individually.

Hello,

I had problems with 22 kps mp3 files.

Here's the easy fix (without erasing the mp3):

in the transfer window of SONICSTAGE 3.4 (3.2

and before will not do it) press on the small

toolcase (transfer mode settings) and choose

"specified bit rate" set it to 48 kps for podcast

et voila. the conversion is twice as long as simple

transfer, but at least it's a one-button process.
