ShriDurga
Looking through my owner's manual last night I notice that Sony recommends attaching what they call Ferrite Core to the cables attached to your MD. These are little plastic shells through which you loop your cable once or twice. The manual, though, doesn't explain why this is recommended. And when I search Ferrite Core, I get returns about computer memory. So what is this and why should I use them?
sfbp
Suppresses emissions from the cable (interference). Very thorough of Sony, many comparable device manufacturers don't bother, I think.
peter_x
Aren't they those plastic cylinders you see at the ends of USB cables and stuff? I read about someone having a static problem with his CB, he cut off one of those cylinders and wrapped the power wire of his unit around it a few times, and the static was gone. ShriDurga
Me, either. I don't ever recall having such a problem. Nice to know what they're for, though. Thanks.
