mercurius
For some reason, SS4.3 won't work with XP. Whenever I open it up and try and import a recording, it just freezes. I notice that when I close it down through Windows Task Manager it says that Omgjbox.exe experienced a serious problem. Is that a clue?It has coincided with the fact that I can't access Add or delete programmes in Control panel - but I don't know if the problems are related.I have tried re-installing the programme, but to no effect.I would really appreciate any help with sorting this out as I can't use SS at the moment to download recordings. Thanks, mercurius

I was unable to get 4.2 (so far) from sony support . I am hoping someone can post an independent copy of 4.2 or another version that works well with XP. sfbp
Probably your keys are corrupted. Can be fixed by doing a system restore. If SS has *never* worked then there is some weird deal with the Connect Website (which doesn't exist any more) where supposedly the keys get (re-)validated. I'm not clear what Sony has done about this. Avrin seems to know the answer to this and related questions. Before you get totally tied up, try looking here first. It's not clear to me that this is related to 4.2 vs 4.3 at all. Except for when I had a similar problem because of something I did with System Restore (Sony actually warn you about this believe it or not!) - 4.3 works just fine with XP, and 2000 too.
