Hey all

Sony MZ-NH1 for sale. Purchased in Japan 2005. Lost the charger last year unfortunately, and haven't used the unit since.

I see that there is a charger available on ebay for US $20.

Its in pristine condition, really well looked after. Included with the unit is the remote, battery, 8 Sony Hi-MD discs that have only seen light use, a snug velcro pouch, long and short USB cables.

Asking $120 AUD plus postage from Sydney, Australia.

Thanks!

And no eBay fees! :yahoo:

Yes no ebay fees woot!

Guys i got this item on the same day it was put up for sale. We meet up and it was all good, great item it feels so good in your hand.

Only thing i need to do is buy a charger (going to purchase one on ebay haha) but i also need the power cord/plug lead. I have the n910 and mz-n10 cradles and power cord, i wanted to know if any of these power cords will suit the nh1 - based on pictures i think (hope) the end tip of the n910 would fit into the nh1 cradle which has the skinnier pin plugin??

If anyone could confirm or supply the model number for the power cord of the nh1, it'd be much appreciated. If all else fails i'll get a stand alone charger, i assume the cradles only function is for charging as i can connect to the pc with the usb cables.

Cheers,

Sami

Curious--have you attempted to charge it by just letting it sit on USB? The equipment page claims it is "USB powered". My rh1 seems to charge just fine this way. It is quite convenient.

It's fairly well known (now) that USB doesn't provide as much oomph as a charger. The stand you need is BCA-MZNH1.

To see one try typing this item number into your local Ebay: 150356922821

That might be only the stand. I'd check with the seller. When I looked up the adapters you need to attach to the base (on ebay), it isn't clear whether they are modular and come with the tips necessary to use in various countries. It looks to be all very hit and miss. You might be better off trying to find a universal charger appropriate to your country with 6v/800mA output (what the Sony parts store says the specs are for this adapter--although at $47 they can bite me). Personally, I might even be tempted to find a USB/AC adapter with these exact specs and skip the base altogether. I know, the base makes it look spiffy. :)

Actually, please someone correct me if I'm wrong--but doesn't the mA rating on DC output refer to maximum current draw? In other words, it isn't necessary to exactly match the mA just so long as you don't lowball it. So, for example, on Woot today is a deal for a set of universal chargers with a 1500mA max draw (though the plugs are probably for US only--I'm just using this as an example). If I used this with something requiring only 6v/800mA, if I set it for 6v, the unit would only draw the current it needs.

He has two of the necessary cables (with the necessary proprietary BS Sony connectors)--or is there additional charging circuitry in the base that's required? I guess 20$ USD for the base + a generic AC adapter is not really that bad. But still, I hate that crap. It's not just Sony that was guilty of it either.

I've actually been eyeing these. I'm considering getting one and at least one additional LIP-4WM:

Universal LCD Lithium Ion Charger

There's some on ebay right now (about to end, but I'm sure it'll be relisted). They seem like a viable option for any units taking LiIon gumstick batteries.

Good things: Equipment browser, google, forum search, etc...

Bad thing: asking every time instead of using any of the above...

Biggest difference netween N and R is R's ability to upload pretty well anything, and native support of MP3's, N is built better, but needs the remote more, I have em both, haven't used the R to it's potential, but can see that happening.

As to the rest, let's try to keep it civilized, board belongs to us all, let's be friends, OK,

Just trying to keep us on topic, bob--I split off his question to the HiMD forum.

Had I known that Targus charger existed, I might well have bought it. Does it really work with the NH1 battery?

I have been using various adapters on all sorts of equipment where the mA rating does not match. Someone told me that as long as the mA rating is equal to or higher than the unit being powered, everything should be ok. I make sure the ratings are reasonably close if not exact, as I am of course, afraid of burning out anything, and as a disclaimer, I would suggest that anyone check this out before trying it themselves. That said, if the aforementioned Targus charger is not appropriate for the NH1 battery, I would just get the cradle off ebay, and use a universal charger to power it. One of the plugs will fit. As far as I remember, the power input on the cradle is the most commonly used size for adapters, but thats only as far as I remember. How's all that for vague (:

Hehehe--disclaimers often are vague.

In answer regarding the Targus--the specifications claim compatibility with the LIP-4WM, the battery used in both the RH1 and the NH1. I may try it (though not necessarily soon) because if I start using my RH1 extensively as a portable unit (not really a likely scenario, but possible) then I'd want to be able to carry fully charged spares. They make no such cradle for the RH1 that includes a spot for a spare battery as they do the NH1, so this would be my only option barring the extremely inelegant solution of using the RH1 itself as a charger for a secondary battery (something I have done with gadgets before, but I loathe doing it).

Hey guys well i purchased the cradle for the nh1 (the cradle does not come with any power lead), hope it turns out well ...if not i may be using my rh1 as a recharger for both units until i can find another alternative <_<
